Horatio G. Spafford had a beautiful family of six. His business was almost ruined by the inferno in Chicago in 1871. While battling with that, Hanna, his wife, and four daughters suffered a shipwreck. Tragically, all the four daughters drowned leaving their mother. Nine days later, the wife was able to contact Spafford by telegraph with a short message
"saved alone what shall I do?"
While Spafford was going to meet his wife through the next available ship, the Captain of the ship pointed out the spot where the shipwreck took place. Reflecting over it, Spafford penned down the words of the song that we know today as
"It is well with my soul".
The story of all the calamities that befell Job in the Bible. He lost all, including his children. The loss was monumental, the grief was unimaginable. However, in the midst of it all, he maintained an uncommon calm that only God can give. He blessed God and resolved not to sin in thought, word, or deed.
Life is a battle. Often, we are tempted, tried, and troubled so much to make us despair. However, we must note that many giants of faith are baked in the furnace of trials. What makes a man triumph is the ability to withstand sore trials without breaking. The stuff a person is made of can only be tested in times of adversity.
As children of God, we need to come to the point of totally surrendering all to Jesus. We should watch out for and resist our attachment to the things of this world. The negative vicissitudes of life may come in quick succession like torrential rain, putting great pressure on our hearts. But we must know that suicide is not the solution neither quitting from God's service. Having strong faith in God when all hope is lost is the secret of triumph.
Would you ever think that from a black pot, white pap would emerge? Life is but an examination hall. The fittest, one who can stand the inferno of crisis and ce out head high will be qualified to access the goodness embedded in to. Attributes of a winner may include the following:
Perseverance: Endurance or perseverance is very key in life pursuits. If you do not learn this character, you may find yourself losing out on your potentials. You don't have to be in a haste to decide for you are truly convinced that you have made the best choice having weighed your options. Every moment will not last forever. A time will come, for those who are consistently engaged when all things will become lighter and easily accessed. Slow to anger and fast to forgive during dark days are very important for the individual too.
Faith: idleness does not conform to success. You must put your ability to the test while having a firm that your expectation will be met. Faith is a necessary tool in the hands of individuals and it helps you to persist even when others lost hope. Being a strong-willed person can help you reach a decisive end, where your breakthrough clearly announces itself. Remember that only an individual who puts words into action and continues on the way is said to have or practice faith. The direct opposite of faith is fear, it had destroyed many potentials. And basically, there is nothing to fear, only our incapability to try out a new idea. Fear has been termed to be:
F-Forget
E-Everything
A-And
R-Run.
If you have conceived an idea in your mind, do well to try it out with a will that it will be actualized.
Prayer: I love the place of prayer in all that I do. Prayer is a direct weapon of mass destruction and a molding apparatus. Many successful people in the world are prayer warriors, secretly. Don't just follow the trend, you can change the atmosphere with prayers. A young man changes the world calendar with prayers, his name, Joshua. The sun stood still for a whole day while Joshua prayed and that day got missing in the calendar. Any mam who does not pray and put in prayer to act becomes vulnerable in the face of adversities.
Summary
Though the trials of faith may be painful, the result is relatively abundant in time. Do not allow pride take away the opportunities that stands before you. A prayer-less man is a powerless man.
