Joanita woke up at the beep of her phone. She reluctantly picked the phone as her eyes were still heavy on sleep. Before she could stretch forth her hand to the drawer by the bedside, the phone had rang-out. It was an unknown caller so she decided not to call. The caller must be one of those who is need of a job. Joanita works as the secretary of an outsourcing firm in Ghana. These past weeks have been very hectic for her. A construction company had newly been given a contract to build a bridge between Ghana and Togo via the Niger river. So, different kinds if construction workers had been applying for job.

Grin! Grin!! Grin!!!

The phone rang again.

A masculine voice from the other end spoke.

Hello!!

Joanita replied.

Hello!!

Please, you need to come to General Hospital Accra, your relatives were brought in this morning.

Immediately, she began to sweat profusely upon hearing that here relatives were brought-in this morning.

What would have happened? The caller didn't give details. Hurriedly into the bath she went. On a second thought, she pulled out without taking her bath. In a state of confusion already, she grabbed her bag and off to ABC Transport Company she went to board a bus to Accra.

Why would have this be happening on her birthday? Could this be an enchantment? As the bus moved her heart begin to juggle between one thought and another.

When they finally arrived Accra, the trouble in Joanita's tripled. She ordered a Uber taxi. The cab arrived almost immediately.

She boarded and the driver zoomed to the General Hospital.

At the hospital she wasn't allowed entry because she had no face mask on. Quickly, Joanita had to get a back of face mask at the pharmacy across the road.

Straight to the emergency ward she went. Tears rolled down her cheek as she found her sighted her sister's leg hung, heavily bandaged, full of blood stains. Next to her is little Appiah, her five years son, breathing with the aid of oxygen.

Now that she had confirmed that they still had life in them. She went to the front desk to ask what happened.

Traffic wardens brought in a family of six, presumably on a journey. They were driving in a Toyota suv when they ran into a truck. Three passengers died instantly. They were returning from a vigil. The drive had slept off while on the wheel.

One of the passengers could not be traced. The wardens had gone back to continue the search for him. He probably had jumped out of the at before the crash.

Joanita's sister and son had been offered a lift from one of their church member.

Before long that Joanita had arrived at the GH, the relatives of the family that offered them lift were all over screaming at the top of their voices. They had lost all of their relatives in that accident. It was a sour experience. Joanita couldn't find back her tears, it kept dripping on her cheeks. Even though she had lost anyone intimate to her in the crash, she wasn't herself for the time being.

I've heard a number of stories by people who've had to visit their relatives involved in either ghastly or fatal accidents. It's never a pleasing tale to hear. May we never be victims or witness of such

It is indeed a bad day for her, she wouldn't have known what was going on if she had refused to pick the call thinking someone wants to disturb her.

I would love to see the continuity if this is a series.

That was a tragic experience for Joanita. Although the story was a tragedy, it was still a good read
