August Visitor

Knock! Knock!!

Suzie knocked at the door for the umpteenth time, yet no response came from within the flat. The sound from the television set indicated that someone was in the house. 

Is Hakeem trying to avoid me?

Six months ago, Hakeem was a single young guy who wanted to mingle. His close friends had girlfriends and each time they hung out, he felt intimidated. 

The other day, when Hakeem visited his friend at his office so that they could go home together, while he waited at the reception, a lady walked in, she wanted to book some goods to be delivered to her shop in two days. Since the secretary was attending to another customer, she took a seat near Hakeem. 

Her name is Suzie and she was very beautiful. Hakeem thought at first to be friendly to her so that they could get closer as time went on.

Hi! My name is Hakeem. 

She returned the favour

Hello! I am Suzie, short for Suzanne. 

The conversation continued. They both became very free to say what adults could say. 

In no time, Hakeem and Suzie went out to one canteen to have some food. It was the first time 

Hakeem will be sitting and dining with a lady. 

Suzie was watching the door of the secretary's office to see if the customer engaging her was done so that she could go back and make her booking. 

For the guy, it looked like the day should not come to an end. He wanted her to talk more. He wanted them to stay out longer. But she is business inclined and was not cut out for relationships that would not bring anything tangible. 

Hakeem wanted to tell that he had fallen in love with her but he doesn't know how to go about that. What would make the first line of his statement. He kept contemplating but nothing was forthcoming. 

After their food, Suzie asked that they return to the reception so that she could pay for the goods she came to book. 

As they walked to the counter, she made to pay for the food but Hakeem held her back saying he would do that. He found her skin so tender and he began to sweat. After paying for the food, he walked to catch up with her by the doorpost. 

I will wait for you. There is more I want to tell you. 

She looked at him and smiled. This gave some hope to Hakeem. He started believing that this might turn out positive for him. He wasn't experienced.

When his friend closed from work and found Hakeem waiting at the reception, he was surprised. He hadn't said that he would be coming. Anyways, he thought, let's be on our way. 

Hakeem went out with his friend, Ade. He narrated everything that had happened and why he wouldn't be going home with him. 

While Ade went home, Hakeem, who seemed to have found love in Suzie, waited to say how he felt to her.

It took one hour for her to complete the booking with the secretary. Then, she resumed the talk with Hakeem.

Before they knew it, the day had turned dark and there was no taxi that could convey Suzie to the other part of town where she came from.

Now, Hakeem was set to tell her. He wasn't going to be shy anymore. So, he came out straight and said it. 

Suzie, since we met this afternoon, I haven't been myself. I think I feel something for you. I.....think l......love you.

Hakeem stammered as he mentioned it to her. Immediately, she stamped a ling kiss on his lips. She knew all along that he wanted to say this and she wanted him to say it but he kept shying away. 

Suzie accepted to spend the night at Hakeem's. It was a long night for the lovebirds. They were at each other's arm throughout the night. It was an experience that he won't forget so soon. 

Later in the morning, Hakeem accompanied her to the bus stop where she took a bus and went home. They kept talking on the phone until this morning when she paid Hakeem and August visitation. 

She sat outside the door waiting for whoever was in the room to come out. 

Hakeem was in the bathroom taking his bath all the while. So when he was done, he came out to see Suzie like someone ready for a fight. 

Without  saying a word, she  broke in through the door in suspicion that there was another person in the room. But she was wrong. Hakeem had been alone, even though he was not expecting Suzie, he would never break her heart.
