This couple lived together for 73 years⠀⁣ ⁣ When 94-year-old Helen Auer took her last breath, her husband Joe bent over her to kiss her goodbye. A 100-year-old man whispered, "Helen, call me home." A few hours later, Joe died...⠀⁣ ⁣ This couple from Cincinnati, Ohio, had a truly unique affection for each other. Their 10 children always knew that Joe couldn't last long without his Helen.⠀⁣ ⁣ The Auers, whose marriage lasted 73 years, went through the Great Depression and World War II together.⠀⁣ ⁣ While at war, back in 1944, Joe put a photo of Helen and their two first children in his pocket. This photo has been in his wallet all these years. He was found there after Joe's death, and will be buried with him.⠀⁣ ⁣ The Auer children remember their mother as loving and cheerful, she was what kept their family together all these years. ⁣ ⁣ Joe was a reserved and deeply religious man who believed that his and Helen's children were a gift from God.⠀⁣ ⁣ The Auers always laughed. Even in their last photos together, they are smiling.⠀⁣ ⁣ Jerry's youngest son, who is 58 years old, says his parents have been working on their relationship despite the distance and financial difficulties.⠀⁣ ⁣ He says, "They were humble and simple people. They didn't ask for anything and got everything in return." " My parents are a role model. Their relationship deserves respect."
