In 1922, at the University of Toronto, the students went to the hospital palace with diabetic children, most of whom were in a coma and dying from diabetic ketoacidosis.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ This is clearly one of the most incredible moments of medicine. Imagine a room full of parents sitting in the roof waiting for the inevitable death of their child. The students moved from bed to bed and injected the children with a new purified extract-insulin. When they started injecting new possessions to the last comatose child, the first child started to wake up.⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ Then one for the others, all the children woke up from a diabetic coma. The room of death and darkness, stopped at the place of joy and hope. Thank you Dr. Frederick Bunting!
