Daily wildlife photography: the red-legged partridge, Alectoris rufa. I found this lonely partridge roaming in the fields of Alentejo. They are normally gregarious, and I still remember when I was a child, passing near a bush and a group of partridges suddenly bursts out of it, scaring the crap out of me! :) Here, this was the only one I've found. There are 3 more similar species, but this is the only one found commonly in Portugal.
