Daily wildlife photography: the blackbird, Turdus merula. Blackbirds are so common (at elast in my country) that probably anyone knows how to identify the species! Truth be told, there aren't many similar species, apart from the black starling. Males have a full black plummage, with a yellow beak and a yellow orbital ring (basically a circle around the eye); females are dark brown. I´ve spotted this one jumping around, probably trying to find some worms. And a few minutes later, further away, a juvenile was trying his luck on the grass as well! Notice how in the juvenile, the full yellow beak and orbital ring still lack.
