Finally, Splinterlands new reward system is live! And together with it, 12 new reward cards. At first look, seems there might be some more grinding involved now to get rewards. But it's likely because of thr season reset, and that as we progress gaining chests proves a lot easier. I guess I'll have to wait the whole season and make up my mind. With the added leagues bonus, I have a feeling the new system is a lot more profitable if you put the work!

My wildlife photography: the great cormorant, Phalacrocorax carbo. There's no way to mistake cormorants with other birds; these ones seemed to enjoy looking at lake Como as much as I am. Poles are frequent at the lake's margin, and cormorants love to be there, cathing sun and enjoying the view.

My wildlife photography: the common crane, Grus grus. Cranes spend the winter in Portugal, returning to their home countries (northern Europe) as the weather starts to get warm. They appear by the hundreds, an awesome show to be seen. Here, a couple screaming their lungs out, in the fields of Alentejo, the portuguese region they choose to visit.

My wildlife photography: the eurasian hoopoe, Upupa epops. This is one of the coolest birds we have on the portuguese avifauna: unmistakable colour pattern, a beautiful crest, and that huge funny beak! This hoopoe was having a blast, drilling the lawn and picking up her lunch.

While I'm still unsure wether I like this new reward system from Splinterlands, there's no doubt that higher chests do bring higher rewards. After today's quest, I received 14 diamond chests; and although there weren't any good cards.... over 10k DEC in one chest more than made up for that fact! Time to hit the markets... ;)

My wildlife photography: the american crocodile, Crocodylus acutus. These amazing creatures can grow quite big, and they're certainly impressive to see in the wild. This one was crossing river Tarcoles, in Costa Rica, where sightings are very common. In fact, there's a bridge over this river that is now a tourist point, given the big numbers of crocodiles that can be seen.

Finally... vacations!! It had been almost half a year since I had them, and i was definitely needing them. Looking forward to a full week of sun, friends, and relax!! And hopefully, some wildlife watching as well!

Four days to Splinterlands season ending, and I can see that the new system, although requires more playing time, is definitely more rewarding to players. I will receive more chests in season ending in both accounts, and especially in my alt account playing in gold league, the difference to previous system is huge! And today I even got lucky: my first Jared!! One of the new reward cards I definitely want to max.

Leaving sights and sounds of Portugal behind, and off to Spain! But no doubt I live in an awesome country, and there's a ton of places I should revisit and discover. My last national trip made me discover the beauty of the contry's center. Now the question is... where next? :)

It's been a few years since I've been here... but Sevilla still has its charm. And one of the things I love about Spain also holds true: everyone on the streets! Amazing the amount of people walking, socialising, and enjoying the awesome weather... and views!

Enjoying my time here... but its crazy hot! Today the thermometer on the street showed 45 C! And when I finished dinner, almost at 11 pm still 35 C! Andaluzian summers 🙂. Today was the day to see the cathedral and the Alcazar.

Doñana is a national park in Spain, known because of the Iberian Lynx, one of the most endangered feline species in the world. Didn't spot him unfortunately, but still plenty of wildlife! Some lagoons have dried, which was a surprise. Kites, egrets, and a ton of other species spotted, can't wait to check the zoom camera photos!

First end of season in Splinterlands after the new reward system: instead of the 30 chests in gold I, I got over 70! Not that luck in the rewards but still, the potencial is huge. Just takes a bit more play time or fine tuning your strategies!

Cadiz by dusk and night. I barely visited the old city, given that the beach is great and takes all my time. 😁 Nevertheless, the old city walls, the cathedral, and some ancient buildings surely deserve a proper visit.

And now, Cadiz by day! Decided to take a mini break from the beach and explore the streets a little. The old town is very cool, tons and tons of little streets, and a lot of old buildings. Being close to sea also makes it a little cooler, so nicer temperatures to walk around.

Oh well, all good things come to an end. Time to return home from well spent vacations; good thing is the memories remain... at least until Alzheimer comes! 😁😁 Can't wait to see my wildlife photos in the zoom camera, hopefully I got some cool photos to share. Meanwhile, the smartphone ones will have to do!

For the ones playing Rising Star, a useful tip! I haven't been carrying out missions when they required Can of Petrol, given how expensive they are. Well, just found out they aren't consumed!! So the ones you buy will be able to be used over and over again. I feel kind of dumb for only finding out now, but better late than ever! Sharing here because I have a feeling I wasn't the only one "fooled" all this time! :)

My wildlife photography: the great egret, Egretta alba. This is a much rarer sighting than the common little egret; the plummage is very similar, but the size is not. As the name implies, great egrets are way bigger, about the size of a great heron; apart from sheer size, another way to identify them is by the beak, yellow in the great egret and black in the little one. Too bad the photos aren't great, but this was as close as I could get, with a full zoom.

My wildlife photography: the azorean blackbird, Turdus merula azorensis. Although almost identical to the common blackbird, this one is a subspecies found in Açores islands. As with the common blackbird, the bright yellow beak tells us its an adult male. Found this one peaking through the bushes in São Jorge island; he was being noisy, so it was easy to spot! :)

Itsy bitsy spider... have no idea what species it is, but sure has a decent size. Photographed this one in Doñana national park, in southern Spain. Funny web construction, with a little silk-made cave, where the spider would retreat! Caught her after her web inspection, she probably didn't liked me snooping around, and decided to hide.

My wildlife photography: the greater coucal, Centropus sinensis. I only spotted him twice, on my trips to Asia. It belongs to the cuckoo family, but he doesn't parasite other bird's nests. With such striking colours and a pretty decent size, it's impossible not to recognise it, if you know the species... and now you do! :)

Sometimes you're roaming around, and you find a pearl. Humor is a must in my life, and this little restaurant in Cadiz, Spain, has one of the best restaurant names I've ever seen. It's in spanish ofc, but for the non speaking ones, it literally translates to "The fat lady gives you food"!! 😁😁😁
