My wildlife photography: the palm squirrel, Funambulus palmarum. These lightning speed creatures can be seen quite frequently in Sri Lanka, but they're hardly seen not moving. Rice seems to do the trick, thow: there was a small feeding space in one of the hostels where I've stayed, and as the rice was poured there, they would appear and enjoy the banquet!

And this is how I'm greeted at Alentejo: with my own suitcase guardian! 😁 Finally visited good friends, and thanks to the cursed virus it's been over two years since last time. It's going to be a weekend full of catching up on conversation, cryptos, and showing @xrayman how birdwatching is done!

Finally got a chance to see these amazing birds again! Common cranes spend the winter in Portugal, and although they are shy birds, I was able to see tons of them, among Alentejo wilderness. Photos are only in the bridge camera... and crossing fingers to have decent ones, will have to wait to see them full screen!

Back home from a great weekend. Catching up with old friends, watching a ton of bird species, and even digiscoping again! It consists on using a telescope and a camera or smartphone, to be able to photograph from a long distance. The results could be better... and that's a great excuse to repeat in a near future. After all, practice makes perfect!

My wildlife photography: the common crane, Grus grus. After this weekend, I had to post about this species! With the company of @xrayman, and @harrierbird as our guide, we saw hundreds of these birds, roaming in the air and fields of Alentejo! They will go away as the weather gets warmer, so they will stay here feeding for a few more months; maybe I'll have a second go and try to take some more photos of these beautiful creatures!

It's sooo so close: a little over 4 hours left to another chapter of one of the best games I've ever played! Splinterlands is starting to be life-changing, and It's been ages since I was this excited for a launch; almost have the will of going to bed early to wake up earlier and play the damn game! :)) See you on the battlefield!

Something you wouldn't expect to see in a nature trail: a crazy human hanging on a wire! I came to enjoy the fresh air and the outdoors, but couldn't stop admiring the balance. True, she fell a ton of times, but in her defense, the wind was crazy! Wonder how cool was the view from there.

My wildlife photography: the fire salamander, Salamandra salamandra. I was coming back from a nature trail, and it was almost dark. I saw something walking on the path... and it was this beauty! This was the first one I've seen one alive! Salamanders are active at night, and the bright colours are a warning to predators to stay away.

Missing the sights and scents from Alentejo! Last weekend I was roaming through these fields, birdwatching and smelling rock roses. Photos help remembering the places... maybe one day technology can help us remember the scents as well!

My wildlife photography: the northern lapwing, Vanellus vanellus. This was another species I was trying to photograph for quite some time. They spend the winter in Portugal, and it's almost impossible to confuse them with any other species, due to their distinctive colour pattern, and that cool crest! It's common to see them in groups, although this one was wondering alone. Photos taken in Mourão, Portugal.

Honestly... can anyone provide me with a decent explanation oh why some channels don't allow comments unless you subscribe to them? I understand the channels idea as in to group people with same preferences; not allowing anyone outside to comment on a good post... I fail to see the advantage. I'm not joining channels just for the sake of interacting; and interacting should be the goal of a social media platform. Opinions, anyone?

My wildlife photography: the great tit, Parus major. Who doesn't love tits? Found this one in a city park somewhere in Budapest, Hungary. Great tits are easy to recognize, and in this species it's also possible to distinguish males from females, especially if you see them from this view: in the males, the black band in front of the body extends to the abdomen and widens a bit, while in the female the band is smaller and doesn't go all the way down.

I've been noticing in my feed a ton of posts from users that I don't subscribe, even when I try to filter with my subscriptions only. Is that happening to anyone else? Maybe filters are not working properly? Having unwanted posts on my feed is another reason why I'm not subscribing to a ton of channels, ESPECIALLY those that require you to join in order to comment. Time is precious, and one of the good thing about filters is exactly not to waste your time with unwanted…

My wildlife photography: the common kestrel, Falco tinnunculus. Been a while since I've spotted one of these perched; I normally see them hovering in the air, scouting for their next prey. This one was admiring the Alentejo fields; it's a male, we can easily recognize him thanks to they grey head, female's head is brownish.

My wildlife photography: the stripped dolphin, Stenella coeruleoalba. Probably my favourite species of the 5 I saw in my last cetacean watching trip in Açores. The large group moved incredibly quickly, jumping out of the water over and over again. Splinterland's Santa was nice to me today! Sure, I was a good boy all year, battling like a mad man almost every day of the year. My wildlife photography: the greater flamingo, Phoenicopterus roseus. Revisiting some of my birdwatching photos this year, and these guys were for sure some of my best sightings, although the photos didn't come out as good as I would want it; they are shy, and as soon as you get close.... off they go! Nevertheless, it's always great to spot them., especially in large groups, as it was the case here. Photos taken in Tavira, Portugal.

Not far from the village where I'm staying there's a small waterfall. During summertime only a small water stream goes through it, but in the winter it grows to this beautiful scenery. Since I'm in a valley the light gets fainter a bit sooner than near the sea, but still enough time to enjoy decent afternoon walks!
