Medium has changed a lot since last year, but only in a worse direction. Due to these changes, an extension that was bringing up the total stats of writers is no longer functioning. The last time I managed to subtract my total stats from Medium was in November 2023, when my stories had crossed 300,000 views. At that moment the extension stopped working and the rules for counting the read ratio also changed, therefore the read ratio shown here adheres to the previous rules that required something like 5 minutes of reading time by each user with scrolling and staying on the screen to count as a read (if I remember correctly how Medium was counting the reading time). The only thing that Medium improved was the reading time which was dropped to 1 minute, therefore the read ratio of my stories should be somewhere around 80% right now. However, we don't really know as there are no total stats anymore provided by Medium. Moreover, Medium decided to just cut down around 20% of my views without any justification since September (before I got this screenshot from the extension), so the actual views were probably around 350,000 at that point. Since December (stats stop showing in November) as far as I know I had around 10k views monthly (and declining as I did not publish often), so probably I'm somewhere near 350,000 views (that Medium counts) right now. It was another reason that forced me to quit writing as I could not any longer evaluate progress. Medium decided it wanted to promote some certain agenda and decided that writers with a higher number of views that did not align with that agenda had to suffer, so irrelevant niches get promoted. These niches had to do with entirely different stuff from what I describe, yet, somehow they believed that gaslighting the Medium users was a fair practice. I've stopped using the Medium partner's program as they sicken me with the new dishonest approach and I want nothing to do with them anymore as a "partner".
