Edward Snowden. What a guy. I never thought of him as a hero or a villain. WikiLeaks is a great service for journalism, but Snowden is a distinct case. I never expected him to be such a speculator, although he often tweets about Bitcoin, always in a wrong approach. He acts like a BTC shill, probably getting paid to write about it since he is part of the influencer/marketing network. Sure, El Salvador is trying to escape some kind of extortion by IMF. I’m not taking the IMF side either, which is usually excruciating and demanding national resources to just be handed out to American corporations for exploitation at no cost. IMF is a totally different subject. You can’t correct one wrong by enforcing another one, though. The El Salvador government doesn’t want its people to have access to freedom. If it wanted, there are already several options available with Bitcoin Cash at the top. What all governments want is more control. El Salvador, by forcing the Strike and Chivo “Bitcoin” wallets has just created something similar to a CBDC. It won’t be able to control the money supply, but it will control perfectly the flow of money in and out of the country. A centralized service that could block accounts, suspend and seize money in them, and force political dissidents into poverty is the worse kind of financial dystopia a nation could adopt. So, Snowden, tell us again, how much do you care about the people of El Salvador when Bukele with this law will have the ability to punish political opponents and exclude them from the financial system of this economy? It is a shallow approach by someone that should have been more critical and promote financial freedom instead of the adoption of BTC, but in a government’s custody. Ok, that's a really important perspective to look things from too. The truth is that most of us have only heard the one side of the story until now and it seemed really nice to see crypto being adopted, but surely it's suspicious that they used a centralized service. Once again the history ignorance issue and the half knowledge strike and we can't be sure about nothing that we hear (I'm "guilty" of not doing my own research for it too before getting too excited). I also had no idea that Snowden is in the "Influencers" industry now, this is kinda sad as an outcome..
Nice 👍
