The Latin word albus means 'white' or 'colorless'.

Albinism or Leucism is a congenital disorder that causes discoloration of the hair, eyes and skin.

Because#

Albinism occurs in the complete or partial absence of organic pigments or pigments on the skin, hair or eyes. Its effects include photophobia (photosensitivity), nystagmus (involuntary movement of the eye), and embleopia (loss of vision in one eye).

Genetic traits are often blamed for causing pale whites in many animals. Pigments color plants or animals. Animals with leukemia are deficient in multiple pigments. And because of this the animal looks white or pale in color.

Types#

Two types of albinism are found. Oculocutaneous and ocular albinism. The first type of albinism affects the eyes, skin and hair. Ocular albinism only affects the eye. The first type of albinism is found in "black-brown-skinned people." According to the National Organization of Albinism and Hypopigmentation, the color of the human eyeball in ocular albinism can range from green to blue or even brown. In this case a very small amount of pigment is in the eye so the light is directly reflected in the iris.

.

Genetics#

Albinism is usually inherited from person to person. In this case, if both parents have recessive alleles, their child has a chance to become albino. If one of the parents is a carrier of albinism, the child is less likely to be albino. However, in this case the child is also a genetic carrier of albinism. In this case, the carrier of albinism genetically does not show any symptoms of this disease. Therefore, it is difficult to verify whether a person is an individual carrier of albinism without genetic testing. The incidence of albinism is equal between men and women.

Treatment#

To date, no cure for albinism has been discovered. Albinism patients need to be careful to avoid sunburn and seek regular skin care.

In most cases to reduce the eye problems caused by albinism

Surgery is required. Needless to say, the benefits of these surgeries vary depending on the patient's condition. Most patients use glasses to avoid visual impairment.
