Self control is me acting in me, amongst the nine fruit of the spirit I can only demonstrate self control on me . Our struggle is with our self, it's private but the evidence of it, is very public whether victory or defeat.
Self control is the easiest in this list of the fruit of the spirit to define., self control is the ability to control ones self, it is the ability to restrain / subdue / properly direct our desires or passions.
Self control is what keeps the mind ever alert for the infiltration of the enemy forces. A self controlled person will always do self examination they do not just drift and respond to whatever comes along, they listen to their body and if they feel a strong attraction to another person, who is not their mate, they do not add fuel to the fire and quench the spirit. But rather they add the fire to the spirit and quench the flame of lust.
Those who lose control and disobey God, they often do so because they are not hunest about potential for sin and folly. The Christian who says I know I can fall is the one most likely to avoid a fall, the one who pretends temptation is no problem is the one at high risk.
Self control demands that we be hunest about our weeknes and admit them before we face temptation.
