Maverick got on the Cabin Cruiser, having a particularly good feeling about this mission. He had been using other subordinates and minions and all he got in return were several losses and regret.
This time was different. This time, he was going in himself, and he was going to attack where they were most vulnerable - right here in the water. Of course, then he'd be pitting himself against Elsa... right in the water, where she'd be at her most powerful.
It was a risk well worth taking, especially since Yami was also following them as well.
Which brought him back to Yami, another issue he had to deal with. Of course, Yami has defected from his side; not as though he was one of them in the first place, but now he was neither working for him or with the others. He was a lone wolf, a spirit of vengeance.
He was available for use.
The fact was that with these ordinary men with him - twelve in number, there was very little he could do against the group - except if he used Yami. He knew the latter's plan was o attack when they got to land, but if he attacked them, Yami would be forced to use the opportunity to take his revenge.
If the idiot managed to kill at least one of them. the odds would be in his favor.
Lance was using Wind, so he wouldn't dare use his powers. Maverick's fire element would turn that against him. So it was necessarily between him, Frost, and Kendrick/Vince. It was a question of who to attack first.
The boat sped on regardless, as he prepared the harpoon. It would be one shot, preferably dead straight into Vince's chest. Vince was unarguably his biggest threat on that boat. Skillwise, he could overpower Vince, but then, the sword was a big factor.
One direct hit with any of those swords and he'd be done for.
Now they were in sight. He spotted Yami afar off, looking in his direction. Yami had no binoculars, so looking in his direction was the most he could do. He would not be interfering until it was too late.
Until he became part of Maverick's plan.

Vince sat in the speedboat, thinking about the battle that lay ahead. Another look at the 'fisherman's' boat behind told me that it wasn't a fisherman at all. I'd gone fishing before and what the man was doing was nothing like it.
"I know," Frost said, squeezing my lap. "We'll handle him when we get on land. We have a lot to lose if we engage him right here."
They continued on, until I noticed another boat coming on the horizon... not just a boat - a cabin cruiser.
Somehow, it unnerved me.
"Frost..." I said again, and she turned.
"That doesn't look good...."
It was closing in quickly until I could see the clear outline of the approaching cabin cruiser, and I knew whoever had it was a rich guy, someone who wouldn't readily be on the island except for some business.
"The Island isn't a tourist location, is it?"
"It isn't. It's basically off-limits since researchers are always disappearing whenever any expeditions are made to this place. I have a bad feeling about these two guys behind us... you guys get ready," Frost said.
I stood with my swords ready, realizing how disadvantageous it would be to fight on a boat. Long-distance attacks would be better for this situation, something that Lance and Frost would have to handle.
He noticed some movement at the front of the cabin and looked closely. It was a man with a...

"Duck!" Frost screamed, pushing him down.
