These castles with amazing panoramic works of art, historical treasures and important tourist attractions, from which I will now show you the most beautiful in the world.
1. Chambord Castle, Loire Valley, France
One of the most magnificent Renaissance castles in the world, this is the wonder of the Loire Valley, which in the 16th century only served as a "simple hunting viscose" for French rulers. The identity of the architect of the Château de Chambord is unfortunately unknown (presumably designed by Domencio da Cortona and with the participation of Leonardo da Vinci), it does not detract from its beauty: 426 rooms, 282 stoves, 77 stairs, 800 relief columns and thousands of acres of game park can also be found here, not to mention the 11 towers. The castle was declared protected in 1981 and has since become one of the most popular rural attractions for tourists.
2. Kremlin, Moscow, Russia
It sticks out a bit because the Kremlin is not just a castle, but a complex of buildings that marks the cultural and power center of Russia and the seat of its rulers and decision-makers. Built on Borovicki Hill, its irregular triangular defensive wall brings more than two kilometers in total and varies in height from 5 to 19 meters. It is a real monumental building, which, together with the Red Square, has been on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 1990.
3. Himeji Castle, Himeji, Japan
One of the 12 original (meaning no reconstruction) castles in Japan and one of the oldest UNESCO-protected buildings in the country, this is the 13th-century Himeji, located on Himeyama Hill. As can be deduced from its more than four-kilometer perimeter, like the Kremlin, it is a monumental building complex centered on the 46.4-meter-long central castle tower pictured. Although not known by many at home, it is one of the main attractions in Japan, visited by more than 3 million people each year.
4. Chillon Castle, Switzerland
Switzerland’s most visited historic building on the eastern end of Lake Geneva, built on a rock since 1160. The castle itself includes 25 smaller buildings and can only be accessed via a wooden bridge. Although, unlike Himeji, Chillon Castle is visited by only a few hundred thousand people a year, this is due to the fact that the country has mainly cultural, financial and natural resources - history lovers prefer to travel to neighboring France, Italy or Germany to visit the castle.
5. Maharaja's Castle, Mysore, India
Mysore is also called the city of castles, as there are 7 special palaces here, but of all these, the Mahadardzsa, designed by the British architect Lord Henry Irwin, is the most famous and important. This Indo-Saracen-style castle was built in the 14th century, but only reached its present form between 1897 and 1912. And experts say this building is India’s 2nd most visited landmark (the first being the Taj Mahal) with an annual turnover of over 6 million.
