The decision to shut down internet and dish services for three hours from Sunday The Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) and the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (AFPAB) have taken a final decision to shut down the Internet and cable TV (DISH) connection for three hours every Sunday (October 18) in protest of the removal of the hanging cable. Earlier, leaders of the Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh (ISPAB) and the Cable Operators Association of Bangladesh (COAB) held a press conference at the National Press Club on October 12 to protest the removal of the hanging cable. It was informed at the press conference that they have lost about Tk 20 crore by cutting the hanging cable without any notice. No hanging cable can be removed unless a permanent arrangement is made to carry the cable under the ground. In this regard, MA Hakim, President of Internet Service Providers Association of Bangladesh, said, "We have not discussed our demands with the government or the city corporation." And so, according to the previous decision, this program will be observed all over the country from next Sunday. So far this is our decision. As part of the program, some major Internet service providers have started sending e-mails and text messages informing their customers that their services have been suspended. For example, today Link-3 Technology sends e-mails to the customers informing them that the internet service will be closed from 10 am to 1 pm every day from next Sunday. Since August 5, the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has been conducting operations to remove the road. According to the company, they have to get written permission to do business in the corporation area. None of those who are doing this business have taken permission from the City Corporation. As of Wednesday, South City had carried out raids in 48 areas and removed 275 hanging cables from electricity poles. The picture is different in North City, even though the campaign is going on in the south. The mayor of the north is discussing with the service providers to determine each area or road and periodically remove the hanging wire there. In the north, several roads in Uttara Sector 4 and hanging cables on both sides of Gulshan Avenue have already been removed.
