  • Police Officer

  • PDEA or Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency

  • Jail Officer

  • Fire Officer

  • and many more.

Here's my Internship or OJT-On The Job Training as criminology:

  1. PDEA (Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency)

PDEA stands for Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency which aims to lessen the Drug  incident in a community.

When I’m in PDEA I experienced  how to do office works like encoding the list of arrested in drug operations and we experience going to crime lab with the people arrested in drug operation in order to take Drug Test to know if they are Positive or Negative in Drugs.

I and my groupmates experience conducting Greyhounds or inside the cell of the prisoners to check if there is contrabands. and also preparing guns that will be used on operations

I also experience wearing their battle gears and gun

We also observed how the PDEA agents and Personnel do their job.

  1. PNP (Philippine National Police)

We are assigned to different Regional Offices like R1, R3, R5, and R7

My first day in PNP I’m being quiet because I don’t know where I assigned. We met the SPO1  Mam.Sandra Cordova. And she assigned us to different offices

I with my groupmates was assigned at R7.  In R7 we learned how they make reports on the different case of incident happened in the CALABARZON in Detective Management Section, and we learned the different offenses that a Police personnel can commit we learned it in PRE CHARGE and in CIRAS we learned the crime rates of CALABARZON. And lastly the WCPD where the abused women and children are going help them and have assistance on what they have to do.

Next is R3 we learned here that they are the one who manage and deployment of  Police in different part of city to decreased, avoid or prevent crimes.

Next is R5 here we learned that they are the one who conduct programs for the police like Brother’s Keeper and etc.

and lastly the here in R1 we learned that they are the one who manage the recruitment of  person who wants to apply in PNP we learned here the different types of awards and medals that a police can have. And we learned that here in  R1 is  where the police Start and where the police will Retire.

I can say that being assisted by the police officers in PNP Regional Offices  boost my personality, I saw them to be a hard working men and women, and trusted person in terms of duties and commitment and give us more inspiration and dedication to study hard .

  1. BJMP (Bureau of Jail Management and Penology)

BJMP stands for BUREAU OF JAIL MANAGEMENT AND PENOLOGY.

The first day of my training in Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) is quiet nervous yet exciting because this was the job that i want to apply . Too many expectations are in my mind, nervousness are killing me but this feeling of being nervous became my strength, and felt confident that I can handle the situation as a trainee.

Being in this department, the first time I stepped in to the office makes me feel scared because the people that I’m going to encounter are the people being convict with criminal cases. I just got myself well prepared with the held of BJMP

Personnel, they orient us to what possibly the BJMP is all about, the duties and responsibilities of every Jail Officer, and what kind of people are there inside the Jail.

First of my duty was being deployed in admin office. The next day, they assigned me to the searcher. When I was in searching area with JO1 Colarinawe

searched a 5 box of Marlboro in the bag of visitor. The visitor banned six months because the cigarettes are not allowed inside the jail.

I also experienced to duty in the turnkey and back post and experienced to enter in the INFIRMARY. Nice experienced when I’m in BJMP and I’m glad to be a trainee in that Bureau. and i am currently on the apply process of this Bureau and soon to be one of jail officer.

  1. Crime Laboratory (SOCO)

The first day of my duty in the Crime Laboratory is quiet nervous yet exciting. Too many expectations are in my mind, nervousness are killing me but this feeling of being nervous became my strength, and felt confident that I can handle the situation as a trainee.

One of the most advance and daring part of being in this agency is what we called autopsy which means knowing the best ground to found out the reasons when and how a person died in the most suspicious way. As a trainee, we never had a chance to practice how to do the autopsy but we are being lectured by the doctors and officials inside on what are we going to do in times of involvement in cases that we should be in the area where the autopsy are required. The investigation is more accurate and fast using modern technologies is being issued by the government.

We also experienced gathering evidence on the crime scene in areas where the incidents are happened like a Murdered persons who was found need to be reported to SOCO for record purposes.

A beggar who was found dead on his manmade cave

An unknown executed person found dead beside the road

I also learned the different jobs of each team members in SOCO operatives like sketching the crime scene, collecting photographs, uplifting fingerprints recovered and interviewing the witnesses. Moreover, officers in charge in Fire Arms Identification Division taught us the different type of pistols and ammunitions to further knowledge in thorough investigations

This is the most memorable part of my internship because this is the first time that i saw Dead person personally and in a close contact position.

So i guess that's all! Taking this course is Hard but fun and more knowledge can be learned while studying this and we can apply it or use it in real life. I hope i inspire you to become one of the Licensed Criminologist that willing to serve the government and the people within with Service, Honor and Justice

Great I appreciate it. But also lacking about the total expenses of schooling comparing to the salary rate, and the percentage on demand job. Just my thought.
