Similarities... We seem to focus so much on the differences and we forget the similarities we all have. We magnify the differences so much that we fail to even see the similarities that exist between us, as humans. The rich and the poor, the strong and the weak, we all have one thing in common, opportunities.

When readiness or preparation meets opportunity then success is inevitable. Time and chance happen to every man on earth regardless of our status. In a world where nothing can be said to be certain except for death and taxes. I would like to add 'opportunities'.

It might come in varying degrees sometimes but there is no one without that bit of opportunity to do something better for themselves and how we use it truly matters. We all have the opportunity to either accept defeat or stay up and fight. We all have the opportunity to allow our background to keep our back on the ground or do something worthwhile. Half chance or half glass, we are given that bit of opportunity at least but most people miss it because they are not prepared or they lost focus a bit because their thoughts are on what they thought was real.

Let me share this simple story.

There was a rich man's son and for the sake of this story, let's name him Richy and there was this beggar just along his street named, Oleg. Richy was taking a stroll on a cool evening when he sighted this beggar making a sketch. He made friends with Oleg and they see each other from time to time. Richy's dad loved Art collections so he had a gallery full of arts.

Oleg decided to draw Richy and he did. He waited for 2 weeks and he heard nothing from Richy. He didn't take a stroll as he used too and Oleg became worried. He summoned the courage and went to the house. He met the dad driving out and on spotting him the father stopped. Oleg asked for his friend, Richy and the father told him in a sad tone that Richy had died. He was sick for a while before he gave up the ghost. Oleg was sad. He humbly dropped the portrait he drew with Richy's face with the dad and the dad took it and zoomed off.

Few weeks down the line, Oleg heard the father had died too and he wanted to auction all his art collections. He was curious to see who would bid for his portrait with the hope that the father must have included it there. He gathered the little change on him with the thought 'in case no one wanted it, at least I can buy it back'.

He managed to dress his best and somehow, he squeezed himself into the auction arena at the dad's house. Shockingly, the first auction of the night happened to be Oleg's painting of Richy. It was said that the wish of the father was that it would be the first bid of the day. No one placed a bid for it and before the countdown was over, Oleg bid and got his portrait back.

Then another instruction came and that is, 'Whoever got the first portrait should be given all the art collections' and everyone stood there, shocked.

We have all been blessed with opportunities but the problem is not many people see them as opportunities because they are busy chasing something else. We need to recognize a message in a mess and an opportunity in the strangest of places. Inability to do these might cost us a lot. Having an open mind and being ready to tap into available opportunities would help us a great deal.

We don't all have equal footings but we all have something to start with and that's opportunities. It is the similarity between every human. It is left for us to recognize it and harness it for the greater good.

That took an interesting and unexpected turn. I like the story. It's true we often are looking so hard for something bigger and better that we miss the small stuff right in front of our noses. And really, it's the small stuff we all can build on. Without the dirt we won't have a brick with which to build a house. Bricks are made from dirt and water. My advice would be, stop looking for the palace and start looking at the dirt so you can build your own palace.

Absolutely. I love this advice. We should change our focus so we can see a message in a mess.

I am happy to read from you and I hope you are getting stronger now?

I am. It is very hot today so I spent most of the day inside. I have a good excuse to not cook. It's been an easy day. I was able to stay awake all day which indicates I'm getting better.

This delights me. I am happy to hear this. The weather was hot here too earlier in the day.

I know and have faith you will be better again by tomorrow.

Yes, we all have opportunity and failure to recognize this would make us miss something meaningful and tangible to our lives. This is interesting to read.
