As simple as it sounds, it is not all that simple for people to exhibit. It takes a whole lot to stay patient even in an insane world. There would always be things that would get you angry. There would always be people that would step on your toes, deliberately or not and that comes with life. In a world that is moving at a faster pace, there is this need for us to tune it down and exercise patience.
Never make any decision with your emotions. If you allow yourself not to exercise caution then you would often see yourself making the wrong calls because you didn't give yourself some thinking through. Patience is in words and also in deeds. Being cautious is also being patient - patient to wait for when to speak and when to act. There is a reason why we have speed bumps and I believe it is to teach fast riders a bit of patience. Patience is like you are running through life and there are speed bumps to slow you down so you can take a moment to relax, think things through and re-evaluate yourself before you keep going. That's the way I see it.
Most people are always in a hurry. We are mostly in a hurry over everything. Hurry to make it in life, which is good if it stems from determination and not desperation. Even to the tiny things you can see a bit of a rush in people. They want things at a fast pace but if you have everything where would you put it? Lack sometimes is teaching you to be patient because if you don't have it now, it doesn't mean you won't have it later. If you cannot afford it, avoid it...at least for now. There is no need to kill yourself over what you have no control over.
When you see an average human being, they are always in a hurry and they do things without much thought. They don't mind rushing things even if it costs them their lives - some people are sold out that way. They knew the consequences but they would rather take their chances with it. There is no issue patience can't solve. Patience is not an avenue to be lazy, I need to set that straight.
It's funny because when you see these people that are always lack patience, they sometimes have misplaced priorities because the things that would favour them, they won't show the needed urgency but the things that would cost them are the things they would rush over. There is a place for patience in life and there is a place for urgency.
We are all guilty at some point too. We desire a change for our country and we want it quickly. We see many people taking the shortcuts, believing a lie through Ponzi schemes. It cuts across everywhere even to those who ply the road while driving. If you live in Nigeria and particularly Lagos state, you would see everyone in a rush hahaha. I am not even talking about those waking up early to get to work due to traffic, even with the simple things. There is a little bit of traffic and you see others trying to face the other lane that isn't theirs and I have seen this a lot from Ibadan (a city in Oyo State, Nigeria) where I came from. In a bit to quickly leave the traffic, they end up messing the whole thing up because they would block the other cars coming from the opposite direction. The traffic they were trying to avoid, they end up making it worse and the time they don't want to waste, they end up wasting more.
I have even seen situations where a car was trying to avoid the traffic and was trying to quickly navigate to the opposing lane and his car got stuck. They stayed there for a long while as most people just passed them by and to make it worse, those who followed that car with the hope of getting ahead too started abusing the driver of that car for messing up their easy escape.
We are always in a rush to get things done and we end up spending longer than anticipated if only we could have exercised patience. Most people are in a rush to make money and rather than go through the normal route and put their creativity to use, you see them opting for money rituals. The same thing applies to our politicians. They would do anything just to get into power or stay in power. There is always this unnecessary urgency that should have been channelled into other things that could have been more profitable. Where is the place of patience? Where is the moment of caution? We want to do things because others are doing them too and we follow the lot and we find out that we are not as lucky as others.
Sometimes I tell people that common sense should not be classified as common but should be classified as superpowers. If it is common, you would expect at least people to do things differently in a more sensible and orderly way. If it was common, then regardless of our background and exposures, we should be able to think on the basics and maintain a bit of order caution on certain things.
Okay, I don't know what triggered this and I think I felt it so strong when I stepped out this evening and saw how people were always in a rush. There was a car right behind me, I believe if he could fly he would have and it was obvious that the road was bad and still, he wanted to overtake. I sat there, chilled and unbothered 🤣😂🤣. We move when we move, we are clear when we are clear. I refused to be rushed 🤣😂.
