Never To Return.
Davina strikes emotions into anyone's heart and her parents know this. Her parents are traditional to the core and they always want to control every aspect of her life. The thing with having older parents is they want to speak based on what they experienced even though it might not apply to the present world we live in. Davina knew this and she tried to tread softly where her parents are concerned. She soon realized that no matter how old you are, you will always be that little girl or boy to your parents which gives them the ground to control every aspect of your life.
None of her decisions was made by her, right from the schools she went to. They picked her course of study for her as well and even made her know the kind of friends she can have around. To them, they were protecting her and she got that in her head. One thing to know is that it's okay to have parental influence but when it comes to the matter of the heart, it has to be about your convictions.
When she finished higher institution, she was already 25 years of age and that was also the number of years it took her parents before they finally gave birth to her. This is why they control every aspect of her life, even the kind of job offers to take. She got a job and she started hearing the tune of marriage from her parents. They are old, they wanted her to give marry and give birth before they cross yonder. The pressure was much and she is used to listening to them. She couldn't risk doing anything to aggrieve her aged parents so she won't be responsible for their deaths.
Her mother introduced her to a young man whom they have know since he was also little. They were like family friends but they are older than the guy's parents. The guy is calm, gentle and cute too. Physically, he passed Davina's tests but marriage is more than just looks. It has everything to do with the character.
She calmly told her parents that she doesn't know so much about this young man but as you would expect from older parents, he cited their story of how her grandfather was the one that found her mother for him. She took it in stride and decided to go along with it since they promised her that she can't know everything about a man but she will know a lot more during the marriage. They agreed and after both families met, they fixed the wedding date and the ball was set rolling.
He was sweet at first to her, especially before they got married. He showed the perfect character of a gentleman that no one would ever believe otherwise. She felt it was worth trying and they got married much to her excitement. She danced so much out of excitement on her wedding day and she was extremely tired. They got to the hotel room and after they prayed, she told her husband that they should sleep and then use the whole day tomorrow to get intimate since she was tired. Eric wasn't having it and told her that he must get intimate.
Without her okay, Eric raped her on her wedding night and being her first time, it wasn't a pleasant experience for her and she felt sore all through the night with a heavy heart too. It made her not enjoy intimacy with her husband as she would have liked even though she tried to enjoy it. He demanded the same sex the next morning and it was becoming a nightmare for her. Later that night, he demanded again and when she complained, rape turned to a heavy slap as he landed one on her chubby cheeks.
Everything she did irritates Eric now and he would treat her without respect as he took offence over little things. She held it for so long until she summoned up the courage to discuss it with her parents. They told her that in their time, you don't throw away things that need fixing, rather you fix them. As she has always been, she obeyed and then left for her house. On getting home, her husband got home before her and questioned where she was coming from. She explained he didn't pick up her calls after she called 5 times and decided to text him that she would be heading over to her parents. Before she could say anything after, she was rolling on the floor after a heavy slap landed on her face. She cried herself to sleep after making dinner with tears on her face.
Later that night, her husband decided to rape her as well and she just wished that her life would be over because this is what she has been subjected to after a year of marriage. She was making breakfast the next day when he curled up to her in the kitchen and decided to get intimate with her again from the back. She resisted at first but gave in after a slap landed on her neck. She allowed him and just before he could finish, she pulled away, grabbed the knife that was staring at her since and stabbed him in the heart. He was on the floor in the pool of his blood as she cleaned her hands, packed her bags, destroyed her phone and travelled out of the country.
She left and never looked back.

Even if the couple was already married now ..abuses such as raped can't be avoided and that's just a sad reality. Hoping that even if they are couple already, the husband should respect her wife more than before they got married.
