Not everything is as they seem. A lot of people mask their pain deep within them and you wouldn't even know it. You know only the things they allow you to see just like the social media. You see a lot of people upload content and see the laughter shine through. You would wish to be as happy as them only if you know half the demons they have locked away and some they are still battling with.

I have seen a lot of people slip into depression just because they are trying to keep up with the social media life. They don't understand that some of these celebrities also rent clothes just to appear appealing and here is someone, killing himself or herself because he or she feels she is failing. I recently heard from s celebrity that talked about renting clothes and also paying stylists to style them while they take pictures to promote on social media. It is easier to see someone like that and assume they have no worries with all the money in the world in their pocket but it's not real.

What's real is the thing you have worked for...the things you can call your own without having to look over your shoulder with contentment. Many people want the life that others have without knowing what they have to deal with. It's easier to desire the life someone has until you have to walk in their shoe to see that uneasiness lies in the head that wears the crown.

There is a lady called Linda with his two friends. One is married and the other isn't. The two married ones always brag about how amazing their husbands are while the single one would just take it in stride and laugh along with them until one day she fed them with information that their husbands might be cheating on them. This idea messed up Linda's head the most because she has never even imagined such with her husband. Of course, the other friend only suggested but Linda acted as though she has caught her husband already and she changed a bit.

The day she decided to visit her other married friend was when her head got the reset button. She overheard the discussion they were having where despite the husband being in the wrong, she was begging him not to leave her and he can continue cheating. She promised never to even talk. Linda got to know that her friend knew all along what kind of man her husband is and yet she kept painting him as the best in the world because she wanted to sell another idea to the world. What brought about their argument as Linda overheard was when her friend's husband bought a house for his mistress and that was why her friend was arguing with her husband.

Linda left and went home to appeal to her husband for being distant for a while. She explained that what her friends said messed up her head and rather than discuss it with him, she acted it out by staying away. The husband already knew the kind of wife he has and told her that he knew she was distant but decided to wait for her to come around since he was certain he did nothing wrong. He told her of the erotic texts her friend; the single one kept sending to him and she just couldn't believe her eyes. Whether the single friend was testing him to get proof to show Linda or not, no one knew but Linda learnt valuable lessons that day.

She knew that not everyone would be genuinely happy for you when things are going great for you. They can put up a front and tell you how happy they are but deep down, they might not be. She also got to know that being sensitive is what makes us human. She felt she shouldn't have been talking glowingly about her husband to her single friend. It's like speaking about how smart your child is in the face of someone that just lost a child. It can mess anyone up...make them think of what they shouldn't think of. It's not an excuse, yes, but it is a trigger and who knows the extent someone can go when triggered?

We all have things we are dealing with and there is no need to add more pressure on others. Social media is a tool for pressure waiting to explore and some willingly allow themselves to be fooled by the things they see rather than the things they know. Don't get fooled by everything you see. As much as the good things we see cannot be avoided, rather let them inspire you to work hard and not get swayed by wanting more than you can currently handle. Stop trying to do what everyone is doing...work within your strength rather than what you have seen others handle.

Thank you for your time.

Some humans have camouflaging smiles inbuilt in them, i don't where they got it from, but i just know they have it. They would smiles at you when you're progressing meanwhile their real selves aren't happy with your progressiveness. I'm happy Linda learnt.

More so, sir, you see this thing they call social Media, hmm! it's full of deceptions oh! I know people who are average financially but all because they want to impress others online, they would struggle to save some money, then go to cloth renting centres to rent beautiful attires, they'll go to photo studio to snap pictures they would post on Instagram, Facebook and the likes.

😂😂🤣😂😂🤣 that's the way they live and that's why they easily enter into depression when they keep getting frustrated on how to keep up.

The thoughts that you share md are truly relatable. I mean, as for me, sometimes I tend to mask my pain to the people around me. I don't want them to see that I am vulnerable. But there are also times when I feel like sharing though. Anyway, love these thoughts from you my friend.

It's okay to ask for help because we all need it. We don't want to appear vulnerable which I totally understand...but we need to be true to ourselves and not try to impress others.

Exactly Mr Ola, social media life is not real life at all, some people would go to the extreme of borrowing just to impress their fans and their fans would start feeling bad thinking they're not doing enough. I might have just a dress, but on social media, you'll see me constantly changing my wears.

Thank goodness that lady retraced her steps, it's not everyone one that's worth discussing with, some friends would just allow themselves to be led into fire, because of what they've chosen to listen to. Everyone always wants to be hailed, they'll paint something different when in actual sense, they're facing something way worse.

Well said, Ella. Most people are concerned about how they are seen... I don't know who they are trying to fool. You can fool some people all of the time, you can fool all the people, some of the time but you cannot fool all the people all the time.

People ruin beautiful things out of jealousy. It is human nature to want the best things, and when we hear someone else has what we want, we'll want it too.

Yes, most people chase after what others have because they feel they deserved it more.

What is on this social media that everyone wants to impress people they don't even know about and go about doing all kinds of this just to get the likes and comments of people, my question is why do they do that? I just pity the next generation coming after us because to me they are just messed up already. And I usually pity those that go about posting about their personal lives and affairs I mean why and after posting all that they come back and say they later regret what they did, then why did you do it in the first place, I don't think social media was made for this set of problem

A lot of people run to social media as if that's the solution to their problems. It's sad. They are trying also to impress those people that doesn't give a hoot about them. It's a sad reality.

I have always known that social media is a place of fake things mostly and I don´t allow them to get into my head. Many people will only show off their achievements and not what they are battling with, but a wise person would get inspired and motivated to work hard, rather than comparing yourself and living a fake life because you want to meet up with them.

Not everything is real, and we must wise up.

$ 0.03

Exactly. Most people live the fake life because they want to measure up. Who are they deceiving? It's only a matter of time before they come crashing down.

Social media has deceived a lot of people. For the fact that they are smiling outside does not mean they are happy inside. A lot of wrong doings are going on in marriages especially these days but they are not things one can boast of.

There are so many misgivings going on. They mask it and let you think all is well but that's not the case.

If we want to copy or fellow everything we see on social media we might really lose everything in life, because most people can really fake life on social media just to make people regard them, or just as a show up to people that they have finally arrived.

People still don't understand that Social Media is a different life and world entirely. Most celebrities in Nigeria actually pay to rent and use costumes. Most of them actually do a lot of hideous things in secret so that they can be able to keep up with the current threads. It's nice we all be sensitive as humans so as to know when to make certain statements and assertions. Thanks for this knowledge filled article Sir Ola.

I'm really happy you enjoyed it, my brother. A lot of people do a lot to keep up and even more so, despicable things. It's quite sad because they want to impress people.

These days socail media is filled with smiling faces while the real world is filled with sadness. People tend to keep up appearances and maintain an illusion that they are happy but they are constantly trying to bury their sadness and that in turn leads to even more sadness and in the end it becomes depression

Absolutely well said. They are trying to keep up with appearances while masking their pain. That's depression version 2.0 waiting to unleash.

I know of a young woman who wakes up every night and cries till daybreak...Thats what you get when you marry a man who have nothing to offer but money. Unfortunately for her, she can'tt leave the marriage since she have already used her rich husband to pepper her "haters" both online and offline

The more we brag about our accomplishments, the more we draw jealousy, which may lead to our demise. Is it, therefore, preferable to shine quietly and privately, it's always better to do progress with yourself without bragging about them to others since in this way we can also prevent putting ourselves into much higher expectations.

Shine quietly... I like that. Burn quietly and grow quietly...that's the way we should live.

I agree with this, cause sometimes people are more likely naked at their life. Like everything is being revealed including such issues that can be solve within just one to two people..The worst thing is that they've received feedback that aren't congruent with the situation.

It's a matter of time, if they don't change, their true self would be revealed.

Such a morale we can get in this story, people has difficulty on showing their true self, their emotions, so they make it into facade because it's easier for them to masked up the reality they have.

That's right. It's easier to mask up than to face the reality and whether they like it or not, they will.

Most people seek for validation. That's the truth. You nailed the truth right there. They should be comfortable with who they are not who they want the world to think they are.

Well, my guess is that the single friend wanted a good husband like her and who else that one that is 'tested and trusted'. Not an excuse though, you shouldn't do that with your friend.

People will always tell us to be careful around friends, it's a bad thing to always tell your friend what your husband is doing, what your home is like, some will even say as much as what he is doing in the bedroom, when you shut your mouth you save yourself from alot of heartbreaks or downfalls., In total you will definitely save your entire life.

Yes, that's what most of them are into... borrowing, renting and then heaping unnecessary pressure on others.

We take most people as friends but little did we know that they can stab us in the back any chance the get. Most people always hide their true selves from the world, we must not be deceived.

I agree with you. We have so many wolves in sheep's clothing.

$ 0.00

The majority of the things we see don't appear the way we see them, but we are more concerned with the way we see them instead of moving closer to seeing reality. If Linda did not see what her friend is passing through, she could have spoiled her marriage blindly, imagine that kind of scenery.

We have to be contented with what we acquire with our hands, all that glitters is not Gold, looking at the possession of others Will always make us feel sad, because we wish it is ours! And the question still remain; can you do what they are doing to achieve that same thing?
