How would you help a blind child see the world?

Hello, everyone!

I am very sorry for being inactive for days. I've been busy with something and gladly I was able to finish what needs to be done.

Even so, I've been reading some articles here but, I wasn't able to leave some comments. Anyways, I am trying to cope with all the absences I've made.

I remembered when I was in high school, I joined the school and inter-town pageants. Well, that was when my confidence was still high. I missed the feeling of walking on a runway with confidence on both of my shoulders. It was my mother who always pushes me to join such pageantries and my father doesn't like to because he is so conservative. He doesn't like pageants as wearing two-piece clothing and sexy costumes are inevitable. Bet you could tell, it was my dad the reason I stopped joining pageants.

Aside from that, what I missed the most is building friendships with the other contestants. It's just funny how audiences think that girls in the pageant are silently bickering with each other but what they didn't know is that girls in the same pageant support each other. I am happy to see some of my competitors that became my friends still pursue the world of pageantry. I could've pursued modeling but I don't want to hear anything from my dad, saying something bad about my passion. So, probably I'm gonna save it for my next life.

I have garnered awards and even been crowned several times. Well, in a competition it will not always be on your side. There are times that I win, there are also times that I'm just a placer. My favorite part of every competition I joined is not the runways, the pieces of jewelry, the swimsuit, not even the evening gown. It will always be the question and answer portion.

I just liked the challenge, the thrill, and of course the questions that will be thrown to determine one's win. I remembered the final question I answered that got me the crown: How would you let a blind child see the world? The thought of my answer goes like this,

We have 5 senses. One of the senses was taken from the child. In able for one to see the beauty of the world is with the use of our sense of sight. For a blind child to see the world, I will use the other senses. I will let the child hear how music can make the world go round. How colorful can it be with its lyrics and tunes, also the loud sounds that make the world disturbed and unrest? I will let the child smell the fragrance of the flowers in the garden to see the lovely side and somehow let the child smell the unpleasant things in the world and tell him that the world isn't perfect. I will let the child taste the sweetness and tasty foods, for him to taste the world is like your favorite dish, you just can't get enough, and the bitterness and sourness of food, for him to taste that life will not be always sweet. I will let the child touch the smoothest and softest things to make him feel that life is comfortable to live with, and also, make him touch the rough surfaces to make him realize that the life we have in this world has rocky and bumpy roads.

Life may be imperfect in this world but there are still many reasons that life is worth living.

Thank you :)

I just put myself in the shoes of a blind child. If I were a blind person also, I will use my other senses. I may not see it but at least I can feel it.

Really missed your articles, well for me, I will allow the child ask me any question he feels, he wants no matter how silly or crazy they seem. I will support the child and make him understand no matter how tough it is to live without his eyes, that I will always remain his eye.

Yes. It doesn't mean being blind the world is dark. There are many ways where we could be able to see lightness around us.
