What is God? Who is God?

Disclaimer: Prior to my understanding I may describe god informally as this is a literary art. These may constitute facts but prior to wordings and interpretations you may explore the wonders of god in this literary work.

What is God? One might ask. I agree that this God is somehow cannot be understood by mere human mind. The transcended high consciousness as I described. 
Is there only one God? or there are many? Or is it the universe is the God itself and we are part of it.
Or is God created this universe but went away, never to interact with us again.

There are many Gods that humanity has made to try to explain this "higher consciousness". Many of them failed, maybe because our logic is highly gets powerful overtime that we may be able to defeat these fake gods.

Interestingly, there is a God that survived the selection. It is the God of Abraham, also known as YHWH (Jehova, Yehova, Yahweh, whatever you want to transliterate it). This God, YHWH, is the monotheistic god of the Jews, Christians, Muslims and other Abrahamic Faith.

I was interested in particular about how this YHWH survived in the competition of the Gods. As there are many gods went 'extinct' like Zeus, Thor, Asherah, Venus, Jupiter, etc. This God survived in the thousands of years and still believed today.
OR IS IT THE SAME GOD?

YHWH is said to originate from Ancient Canaanite Polytheism. Here YHWH is the GOD OF WAR. This pretty much explains why the Old Testament is full of shitty violence, rape, genocide and war. The monotheism arised when people became worshiping YHWH alone, this is called monolatristic belief. Over time, this monolatristic belief became strictly monotheistic which led to the formation of the belief of ONE TRUE GOD.

Is this God (YHWH) is truly the Monotheistic God which Christians worship today?

No, in my opinion. This God which Christians are worshiping today is not YHWH. It is a different concept of God. This God is generally good when described by Christians, but when looked at the Old Testament, YHWH is a violent genocidal God.

The God that Christians used to worship in the past is not the same God they worship today. 
.
This led to my conclusion that our understanding of God evolves over time. 
.
From Ancient Canaanite Polytheism, where YHWH is the God of War.
To Exclusively worshiping YHWH. 
The monolatristic belief which eventually lead to monotheism.
And later, this monotheistic God evolved to became the God which Christians worship today.

Wonderful, isn't it? To know where this monotheistic belief of God came from. I wonder if we really found the real God.
