Lord, I have a confession to make: I made a lot of mistakes to get right, but with each fall I became wiser. I have judged others unfairly, but I have opened my eyes more to understand. I cried and cried out helplessly, but I got up of my own will. I wandered through undesirable places, but returned home with tired legs. I thought everything that flies is eaten, when in fact I hadn't grown up yet. I trod through puddles and through mud, but I washed away with streaming tears. I came far into a place full of vanity, but I turned back from the way, for it was a stranger to me. I fought with my thoughts a lot, but I surrendered, because my heart didn't want to fight. I flew with pride on high and steep peaks, but I woke up a bird with broken wings. I lost myself in the fleeting things of the world, until the day when a nightingale began to sing to me. I sought the riches of this world, but where I sought was only gold turned to dust. I stopped complaining and learned to get up laughing.
