The climate in the Bay of Plenty is fairly consistent all year round temperature-wise. The wettest months are during the autumn which in New Zealand is from March to May. While the Bay of Plenty does attract tourist crowds, visiting Whakaari/ White Island is restricted to permit holding organized tour companies only, so there’s never going to be much of a queue.
