Jeremy Hammond
Jeremy Hammond is a hacker and political activist who has dedicated his life to the defense of Internet freedom. He was one of the first people to be prosecuted under the CFAA and was later imprisoned for the conviction. He is now serving an 11-year sentence in a federal prison in Illinois.
His hacking career started at the age of 20 when he got into hacking as a way to make money, but soon after, his interests took a different turn. He began to hack into government networks, making a mess and causing chaos.
He is still currently serving his sentence and will be eligible for parole in September 2023.
Michael Calce
Michael Calce the hacker who committed the infamous Pepsi Hack in 2000, and was sentenced to four years in prison, in 2002. He was convicted for stealing names, passwords, and other personal data belonging to more than 75,000 people.
One year later, he got an additional 7-year prison sentence for violating the Data Protection Act.
The data he stole included bank account numbers, addresses, Social Security numbers, driver's license information, medical records, employment histories, and salary histories. Calce is the main hacker involved in the LulzSec group and linked to Jeremy Hammond and Sabu. He was also convicted in the P2P Investigation and was a member of the LulzSec hacking group.
Marco Rubio Senator
Marco Rubio of Florida is one of the world's most wanted hackers. Over the years, Rubio has been accused of not only hacking into U.S. servers but of stealing information from the U.S. government. Rubio is reported to have been using his position as a Senator to steal government secrets for personal gain. The charges were dropped since the government has no evidence to prove its allegation.
Vladimir Levin
Known by the hacking name of "Fotios", Vladimir Levin is the accused cybercriminal behind a series of data breaches in the Russian banking sector. His alleged crimes include tampering with data belonging to credit cards of clients of Russian lenders. Authorities convicted him for hacking into the systems of Belinvestbank, Alfa-Bank, and Darien Bank, and of stealing 5.7 million rubles ($101,000). He was charged with computer fraud and hacking and has been in prison since 2011.
Mark Goudeau
Born in the year 1967, Mark Goudeau, also known as the “Teenie Weenie Hacker,” was the first hacker to actually be prosecuted for computer crimes and for his hacking feats. Goudeau was in possession of information about the names, addresses, and social security numbers of around 4 million US citizens, as well as a list of computer passwords belonging to high-ranking officials and corporate executives.
Goudeau originally admitted his role in hacking into computer systems when he was being held in jail by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation for charges related to credit card fraud. In 1997, the Department of Justice finally managed to charge Goudeau in connection with the “Teenie Weenie Hacker” incident. Despite having an estimated net worth of $13 million, the former hacker was found guilty and sentenced to six years in prison. However, Goudeau was later released after serving two years of his six-year sentence and has gone on to Leave a normal life since his release from prison.
