Back to the Past: The "Torete Song" I was drinking coffee when I heard Moonstar88's song Torete for the second time. I'll never forget my high school days when I heard this song. At that time, there will be a singing (duet style) performance for Buwan ng Wika. One of the teachers (organizer) told us to form 5 groups (boys and girls) and to sing Filipino songs (not too old or new song), but there's only one spot left for the boys, and our president told me personally that if it's okay to join me and get the last spot, I'd say "no" because I'm not a good singer (Frog singer). After a few minutes, my adviser called me to the faculty room and told me I need to participate for the sake of our section's pride. (Pride? How about my pride - they'll hear my golden frog voice). I can't say no because my adviser requested it, and it also adds points to the subjects. Note: My adviser is a relative of my father. On the day of the presentation, I am nervous and do a practice song of "do re mi." when my partner and I turned, my heart began to beat faster, and I felt like a robot as we walked across the stage. First, my partner sings "Ewan by Imago," she has a nice voice, and I'm thinking this is going to be a disaster because I'm your partner ahhaaxD. When it was my turn, I heard cheers and chants like "Kakanta na yan, Kakanta na yan," and when I sang the first stanza or whatever of the song "Torete," my classmates yelled things like "ILY," "Singer of the Year," "Idate mo ako mamaya," "Holding hands mo para dama," and so on. I don't mind them, and I just sing and sing, and then I heard students and teachers join in and sing the chorus of the song (it was like a concert at the time), and they tingled when I held my partner's hands and sang the song for her (My president told me to do it since we need some thrill in the stage). Students and teachers applauded after my song, and one of my classmates shouted out, "Classmate ko yan," "R, Buntisin mo ako," and "Uwian na may nanalo." Facepalm, the majority of the audience laughed because of them at the time. P.S: My partner is from the lower year and I don't know her even her name
