What Works For Me?
June 25, 2022
The weekend is a perfect time to revisit our passion and check our mental health. We may have been holding everything together during the weekdays afraid of breaking down. But guess what? We don't need to hold everything together for a long time. Whenever you feel like your cup is full, please feel free to take a break and do something that could help your mind be occupied making it impossible to think of negative thoughts.
Here are some helpful activities that can help you in emptying your cup and will surely fill your heart. These are what works for me:
Spend Time In Nature
Nothing beats the soothing effect of nature. It doesn't do something yet we feel its presence, comfort and peace. Whatever our mood is, it envelops us with love and caresses us whenever we feel weak. It seems to sense our mood and provides therapy after evaluating us.
Call Someone You Care About
With the person you love and care about, everything else doesn't matter. Your worries and everything that clouds your mind and soul will soon fade away with the person you love by your side.
Take a Break From Technology|Pajama Day
The chaos and the facade present in social media are tiring too. It can trigger anxiety and insecurities. Not only does it harm our mental health but it is also hurt our eyes. Therefore, it is advisable to at least have a one-day break from social media and technology. You can go on a long walk. Have a road trip with your friends or just a plain pyjama day with yourself. I usually spend my one-day break from social media as my pyjama day. It's just comforting for me to rest and sleep to at least make up for the nights that I wasn't able to sleep early.
Write in a Journal
This one is effective for me. After I write my thoughts I feel better. It's like a thorn has been removed from my body. It's just so nice to share in a community where no one judges. Instead, they emphasize and provide meaningful advice.
Declutter one space
It's a nice feeling to clean and remove all the unnecessary stuff at home or in our room. It tricks our brain that we also removed all the unhealthy emotions that we've been nurturing in our hearts.
Deep Breathing
After all the stressful events, a sigh and a series of deep breaths are our first remedies for us to get better and feel better easily. It's like our first aid.
Do one thing you'll be glad you did later
Procrastinating only allows us to be more stressed in the future. It frees our time in the present but it will make us worry about the future. Therefore, we must do ourselves a favour by doing the things we ought to do immediately so we won't be stressed later. There is no use in putting off work for tomorrow when we have to still do it anyway. So, might as well work now and then relax later.
Keep a consistent sleep schedule
I have had this as a goal for a long time now and I'm struggling to achieve this. Keeping a consistent sleep schedule would not only benefit our bodies but will also help give us a good mood during the day. When we get enough night's sleep, our day would be great and we won't be irritated easily.
There you go, friends! There is a lot more you can do for you do not feel burned out, tired and worried. Always empty your cup and fill your heart and soul with activities that will work for you. Help yourself and manage good mental health.
Thanks for your time!
Decluttering is super effective and also keeping my sleeping schedule. Tho I failed at this most of the time I want to improve and be consistent in time I sleep and wake up hehe
