Always wanting for more!

It doesn't matter what we want, once we get it, then we want something else.

Today, I mustered my courage to buy a new phone. Accompanied by a dear friend, we headed to the nearest store and bought one.

I'm 22, and this is the first phone I got for myself. I never received a phone as a graduation gift, not as a birthday nor as a Christmas present. Yes, it may sound unbelievable because even four year olds today have their latest mobile. But me, this is my first buy and I hope this won't add to the list of "the things I regret buying".

Back when I was in highschool, when most of the teenagers got their first phone, I was happy living a life that is way too different from what it's like when you have a phone. Growing up, I wasn't scolded by my mom because I stayed up late texting and calling my boyfriend, I wasn't guilty of of sleep deprivation. And maybe, just maybe it may have been the reason why I didn't have a boyfriend in highschool. Sounds like a sad movie, huh but here is the truth. Having a phone while in highschool wasn't appealing to me that much because our barangay is a dead spot. Yes, I live in the countryside where what you can see on which side you look is green, even greener and light green scenery of beautiful trees. That is why having no phone in highschool doesn't hurt me yet.

First year in college and I still got no phone. But it doesn't bother me still. I get to log in my Facebook account on my friend's phone or at the internet cafe.

Fast forward to the days when posting stories and sharing pictures is a fax. Of course, I got the pang of envy everytime I have something or I've been to somewhere instagrammable. Poor me, I didn't have the chance to share it to the social media and have others wow and love those.

Sounds like, I have been jumping from one topic to another. So, to explain the heading, "It doesn't matter what we want, once we get it, we want something else." here's the thing, I bought a phone but Im kind of sad of this purchase because I saw a better one. I saw the one that is latest, whose specs are great and of course, more expensive. At the back of my mind, I thought I could've waited a few more days to get it. How would I feel if Ive been patient and waited for few more days. Unfortunately, waiting hurts for me. My friend's invite about writing here in read.cash has been in my mind wilding that I couldn't even sleep. Yes, that is the reason why I bought a phone. Haha, I really need to buy one because the old one which is my sister's has been waiting for me to give him a rest. I was just being frugal because I'm convinced that there are more important things to spend money on.

So, to back up my claim, it is human nature to always want for more of what we used to have. Life is ladder of wants, that after we step into the first one, we wouldn't stay there for a long time. We would always crave for more and step up for more. Charot!

This is what's on my mind today. I know nothing of you is interested of me buying a phone. But bear with me as I am just starting a journey in this platform. Thank you for reading, I know there are a lot of grammatical errors but thank you for reading this far. I doubt if my Editor -in -chief would approve this one because I usually submit articles for the pub on the deadliest deadline because first I'm lazy and second is I'm doubtful of myself and my ability to write that I edit it repeatedly to avoid judgement from the readers.

But today, you got to read the bare me. This is me, writing. No edit!😝

Welcome to read.cash and congratulations on your new phone. πŸ€— that is why people need to be contended with what they have instead of wanting more and more. I am guilty of wanting something else after I have got what I have wanted. That is why I always remind myself to just buy what is needed. Anyway, looking forward to your articles. Happy writing.

Wow! You stayed away from the phone for quite a while. I didn’t quite pick up from your writing, at what age you actually got your first one. Or is this the first phone ever?

Anyway, nice to meet you and welcome to this amazing platform πŸ’™

Same, ify. Hindi rin kasi natin maiiwasan na hindi mainggit lalo nat halos lahat ng friends natin may kanya-kanyang cellphones. Palagi akong na o-op sa mga friends ko whenever I hangout with them kasi they're all busy with their phones. When I finally got my phone, I used to be so active in social media, every day naka atupag sa phone. But right now, I'm no longer active in any social media platforms except sa NC at RC.

Yes, maybe I would be having the same path as you. My nanay would always scold my brother, bakit saw palaging hawak any phone, mabuti raw Kung negosyante na laging nakaatupag sa phone may rating na Pera. Hahaha. I guess this is the answer. Holding your phone in the most productive wayπŸ˜…
