Philippine lorr creature "danag" (vampire in the Philippines) The Isneg people are an Austronesian ethnic group that are native to the Apayao Province in the Philippines. They tell a different story about how vampirism first came into existence in their culture. Their traditional story, titled "The Danag Spirits," describes the Danag beings prior to the time when they were recognized as an old vampiric species. In the beginning, humans and Danag lived side by side, and Danag farmers would spend their days cultivating taro root and clearing fields for their human neighbors. On the other hand, there was once a time when a lady inadvertently sliced her finger, causing blood to gush out of the wound. One of the Danags, well aware of the need of preventing infection in the incision, volunteered to be the one to suck it. As it did so, it came to the conclusion that the taste of human blood was pleasant and continued sucking until the human girl had been completely emptied of all her blood. As soon as the Danag discovered this secret, they immediately ceased their farming and turned their attention to nighttime human hunting instead.
