Mistakes most students make when reading/preparing for exams: I have been seeing most students struggle during exams and getting close to most of them shows that they struggle not because of the lack of reading/preparing but due to the following reason: 1. IGNORING THE BASIC: Each course, concept etc. has a basic and, with it, understanding the concept will be tough. Also, as seen, every concept is built on a principle which is later expanded to cover general aspects indirectly implying that without understanding the foundation, the rooftop knowledge is equated to zero knowledge. 2. Trying to cover all topics It's good to have a level ground in all topics about the course but it's far better knowing 2/3 of a course to the core than having just a little tip in all topics Also, 2/3 knowledge can scale a student better because a lecturer or tutor exam questions will cover almost all topics with a choice for a student to choose which to attempt meaning writing, not just little but in-depth about a particular question making those who know just a tip lose out of marks. 3. Lack of sleep: The fault of most learners is most of them felt that the night before the exam is the best time to read. As observed, more than half of such students burn the night without sleep forgetting that the brain which is the processor of the body can malfunction if stressed beyond the limits. 4. Beliefs/creator: *Believe in what you believe; my best quote* *If you believe in Muhammad, pray to him* *If you believe in God, talk to him* *If you believe in a hard world, not religion, adhere to it* Remember, beliefs/creators play a vital role in one's success in life (exam inclusive), so forgetting to go close to one's belief/creator hamper the chance of accomplishment. 5. Fear of invigilators, lack of self-belief, overdependent on friends and last overconfidence An exam isn't meant to scare students but to provide a platform to test one understanding of a theory, and if the above is duly handled by students, the failure rate can be reduced to the lowest level. I.e 1. Understand the basics of the course. 2. Try to cover but understand the few which you read to the core. 3. Have a good rest before the exam 4. Know what your beliefs are. 5. Invigilators are human, so see them as one 6.
