It's been six days that we have been staying here in Oslob, the southern part of Cebu province. Prior to arriving here, I had no bucket list on things that I wanted to do unlike when we were on our way to Cebu City, I made a list in my journal. But then, our days were not boring, there were many events and happenings.
I'd like to share with you what happened since we got here.
Lol's Birthday
Our main goal was really to join Lol's birthday celebration. I had blogged about it here: Lola and Her Flavored Beer.
So, I won't deal with that anymore.
Matti's Haircut
On Sunday morning, Matti had his hair cut care of his tatay or grandfather. He was very scared and had been crying all that time while his hair was being cut.
The reason why we decided to do so was that he has been scratching his shoulders and the mother-in-law said it is due to the hair. Even my mom commented the same. We had delayed his haircut for a long time already. We cut his bangs a few months ago but decided to keep the back part because we thought it was cute. We already saved some of his first hair at home for keepsake so getting the back cut was all fine.
But of course, we still have to take photographs because this moment is something that we will surely cherish - Matti getting a haircut by his tatay.
Visiting Oslob Gaisano Grand
Oslob is very famous for its gentle giants, locally called Tuki, and is widely known as whale sharks. It is a huge kind of shark but is very gentle and in a barangay here called Tan-awan, the fishermen had built a friendship with these giants.
It has been a while since the business had started, there were many negative comments about it as it disrupts the natural way of food hunting and migration patterns of these animals but then, the business continues.
Because of the business, a lot of tourists had flocked into this town, making Oslob a tourist destination and although the pandemic happened and the business has slacked a bit, there are still local tourists from different parts of Cebu who are still coming in.
Thus, Gaisano had entered Oslob. Last year, it opened its doors to Oslobanons, giving jobs to locals here which is a good effect. It is also good for the rest of the townspeople as they can already source many things that they used to buy from the city. This is more efficient and convenient.
So, last July, Matti and I were able to get in but last Monday, when we brought Matti, he was not allowed to get inside as he is not yet able to wear a mask.
Nonetheless, the husband bought the necessary items we needed like Matti's diapers, soap, and more.
Afternoon Volleyball
Every afternoon, there's a volleyball game happening in the neighborhood and we would always go there and check the game. There are also vendors selling Filipino snacks and so we would stay at the game area just so we could buy food too.
It's a fun game and a lot of the neighbors go there to watch so it's a breath of fresh air seeing other people around.
Anniversary and Boodle
On Tuesday, we found out that hubby's brother and wife were celebrating their second wedding anniversary. Someone grilled some pork belly and a whole fish, they also bought pizzas, and we had dinner together in a boodle fight.
Matti was super sleepy last night that he got knocked out just when dinner was about to start. I was super full as the pork belly was cooked very nicely and the flavor was just really good!
Bucket List
So after six days, I decided to make my bucket list because I am guessing we are going to stay for another week here or at least 4-5 more days. We are just waiting for some message from my husband's company office and once we get that "go" signal, we will be back in Cebu City.
And before that happens, I want to accomplish some things:
Go to the Beach
This was a plan before we came here but because I had my period on our third day here in Oslob, my husband decided not to go to the beach yet. Although, I am super fine with them going there without me.
The beach is just walking distance from the house though and it's free. But there are also other resorts around and my sister-in-law said she wanted to also go to this nearby resort but that's not final yet.
Dine-in at the Bora Cube Food Park
I had been meaning to visit this but there was no chance so far. I told my husband about the plan so I can blog about it too and he is okay with it. The only question now is when.
I guess we must do it when Matti sleeps early so we can just leave him with the mother-in-law as I don't want to bring him with us when we visit the cube. Perhaps we should do it tonight? Hmm, we will see.
Find Milk Tea Shops
Another thing that I wanted to try is to find milk tea shops and cafes and write about them. I have tried a few milk tea cafes here before but as we always go to the main town, I found there are many other new ones that had opened up.
That's it. I hope we can soon find a time to do the list above before we go back to the city. Today, I also learned that the malls in Cebu City stopped allowing kids to go to the malls.
