From Busay to Balamban to Toledo

This is a continuation of our trip from Moalboal to Oslob via Balamban.

This article has been sitting on my drafts section for a couple of days already and thankfully, I had the chance to just sit down and finish it.

Our original plan was to go to Busay early but then the cafe that we were eyeing visiting only opens at ten in the morning so we decided not to go out early instead. We arrived at 9:30 AM at Charlie's Cup and were glad that it was already opened. There were even guests who were earlier than us.

You can check out our experience at the cafe here:

After having brunch and a few explorations of the place, we decided to go ahead and continue with our journey. My husband has to still work that day. Unfortunately, there was zero network signal at Charlie's Cup so we have to move and get to somewhere which has a better connection so he could log in for work.

From Charlie's Cup, we found that there were still other places to discover here. We past by some familiar areas like Buwakan ni Alejandra which I had been wanting to revisit. There's also Adventure Cafe and then the West 35, all of these we had visited before pre-pandemic. I wish to visit them all again in the future!

Then from Busay, it didn't take long before we reached Balamban. I have passed this road once before and way back in college I remember we had a team-building activity with the Student Government body as well but I forgot which specific area was that.

Anyway, this part of Cebu is very famous because it feels like we were in the north. The fog did show up while we were traversing the peak down to the next town. We passed by a slope and it displayed a view of the Balamban shipyard, it looked very interesting from afar!

I really tried my best to capture a wide-angle but the husband was not slowing down in driving and I have a baby in my arms, yes, Matti slept already by that time! So I have to be content with what I was able to capture.

It felt like we were on cloud 9 seeing this thick fog and then reaching the next curved road and we got a clear path again. Oh I want badly to ask the husband to make a u-turn and we experience the fog once again but of course, that was not possible by then because we were trying to get to the nearest area with a good internet connection.

If you look at the map, there's an intestine-like road here from Balamban down to its downtown where we have to make a left turn. This time, we were already on the coastal road. It felt surreal being on top of the hill for a few minutes ago and then we were then seeing the sea this time around.

After Balamban, we reached Toledo. We've been to Toledo a couple of times but we were not able to explore this town yet. I know there are also tourist attractions here, perhaps, we should get that on our bucket list, and someday we will spare some days to tick them off the list.

By that time, we already have a good internet connection so the husband went to log in for work. Did a few office works while we were at the side of the road, we pulled over for a few minutes for him to work on his laptop.

From Toledo, we headed to Pinamungahan and we had been talking while driving about the land that my brother-in-law bought here. Back in the days, my husband and his brother were super into making a game farm. Have you heard of cockfighting? This is a huge industry in the country and my husband had spent numerous days and even traveled far to learn about the breeding process of game fowls.

The brother-in-law even bought land here in this town so he could develop it into a game farm but it didn't become a realization. He now is selling the land.

Then we reached Aloguinsan and this brought so many memories. We had an unforgettable trip here where one of my husband's colleagues had an accident.

Anyway, from the coastal view, we went into another provincial ambiance as we headed to Barili. It rained too and it was hard! I tried to capture it on my phone. Matti was still sleeping though.

We reached Barili at almost one in the afternoon and I will share with you in the next article about our stopover at Barili's Milk Station.
