Every once a while, I think back about the times I spent with my grandfather. Those memories are so vivid that it feels like I was right there, peering through time, to back when I was 5 years old. Crossing the road, holding his hand, watching out for cars, jumping over the small drain by the road, walking towards my friend’s Chinese medicine shop, with its U shape layout. Or the time when my grandfather and I were sitting in the coffeeshop, me asking from him for money to buy some peanut cookies, while waiting for the bus to come so he can start working. I also remembered what his friend said to him about me. And so many things. So many wonderful memories. I think God gave me some and took away some. One thing I got is above average memory. For example, few months ago I went to the Science Center and had to solve some puzzles at the upper level, and when you solve these puzzles, they give you a set of numbers. Collect all 5 set of these numbers and you can get access to the escape room. If I remember correctly, these numbers are “245”, “386”, “901”, “716”, and either “504” or “405”. I can’t remember the last one perfectly but it should be either “405” or “504”. I don’t know why I still remember that even though it is no longer relevant to me. I also remember the taxi number “SHD103X” which I took a few days ago from Plaza Sing. I remember that because I had to exit halfway in the journey while my family continues home, so I wanted to know who to look for if anything goes wrong. On the other side of the coin, God also took something away from me. I have lots of difficulty expressing myself verbally. While I can write like a normal person, I am not able to speak like a normal person without lots of preparations beforehand. I have no idea why this is the case but it is what it is. I also get hurt when people say that I am like a mute or that I refuse to socialize with people. And even when I was hurt, I wasn’t able to express myself and let them know they had hurt my feelings. Anyway, I don’t blame them. I may have made the same mistakes about other people. I just hope people can be more understanding that everyone is different and has their weakness.
