I'm not a big fan of dictators. The rise of China and Russia where their leaders rule for life is very worrying. It reminds me of Joseph Stalin but now there are 2 Joseph Stalin. I only hope I do not see World War 3 in my lifetime. In 12 of 16 past cases in which a rising power has confronted a ruling power, the result has been bloodshed. Thucydides Trap show us that on the historical record, war is more likely than not when this happens.

Russia has always been imperialist. We just experience it first hand as a neighbouring country. China is also scary because of the ruling party. I also hope there won't be any war

It is said that man has dominated man to his own prejudice. And that is a reality. With the desire to maintain power many rulers try to stay in that position forever. This brings serious consequences. It is said that power corrupts and absolute power corrupts man absolutely. If only 4 or 5 years of presidency is enough corruption for a man in power, how much can he acquire if he is in that position for life?
