Quite like that, however for crypto it goes like this: "I've invested $1000 yesterday and have $650 left today. I think I should sell not to lose everything." A week later: "WTF I would have made $5k if I just held."
Investment is a real investment if the money invested has achieved something (e.g. a vehicle or building has been built). Otherwise it is not an investment but gambling or speculation.
