When you ask my kids, what is their favorite day, they will really answer, they like Saturday. Why? Because Saturday is family day and they spend time with us, we are not working. In this article I will share the importance of family time and the possible activities you can do, so kindly move forward and read the whole article.
The importance of family time.
Family is second to the Almighty God, it is where you can find your home.
When we became parents, we really commit ourselves to give our kids family time especially we are working 5 days a week. It is said that it can improve the child's social and emotional maturity. The following points are advantages of family time:
Builds communication with kids. Through family time, your kids can communicate with you. They will ask some questions, telling you of their personal experiences and even the lessons they learned. With these, you know what are your kids thinking and also they learned to express how or what they feel.
Bonding opportunity. Family ties is really important, one way of achieving it is through bonding times. Family can bond when they eat together, do activities together and these can be memories that can last for a lifetime.
One way of showing affection to children and spouse. In the five languages of love, Quality Time is one. Time spent with family is really a quality time. You can show love and care not only to children but also to your spouse.
What activities you can do?
When there was no pandemic yet, we can have many alternatives on what activities are we going to do, like going to the malls, playhouse, restaurants, parks, but now, it becomes so limited because of the protocols we need to follow, which could really help us to be safe. It will always be better to be safe than sorry. So what are the possible activities we can do?
Outing. You can do beach or spring resort outing. Whenever the situations warrant. In our case, since we are here in a place where beach outing is already allowed, we take them to the beach. But you can also have pools at home, when it was the start of pandemic the inflatable pools became so popular, actually my kids love to have the pool, even if it's just small, they really love the experience.
Art Activities. The kids love to do artistic things, support them by crafting activities for your family day. We usually do some cut and pasting with kids and they usually do some projects. There are many searchable resources in the net. The pictures below are examples of artworks we do with our kids.
Story Time. The kids love to hear stories. Prepare story books and kids stories. We usually have Bible stories and ask them afterwards what did they learn. They also have their coloring sheets afterwards.
Movie Time. This movie time can also be done though we rarely use this. You can select kids movies and watch with the kids. But it is really important that you will ask them on the lessons learned, the feelings.
Food Trip. Cooking some healthy meals for kids and family will really be a plus. It does not need to be expensive, the important thing is that you eat it together with love and happiness.
Play games. If you have a big space, you can do outdoor games like ball games for kids but if you don't have a big space, you can do board games instead. This can improve both mental and physical abilities.
CONCLUSION
In conclusion, Family Time is important not only for your kids, spouse but also for you. It can build communication, serves as bonding activity which you can show love to your family. No matter where you are, what is your life status, you can always do the Family Time, what is important is you really need to give time for this activity.

It's Sunday for us! Sometimes we do general cleaning together. Task delegation haha. Sometimes, we go out. And of course, meal time is always are bonding time. Eating together is just the best. Actually we always eat together even not on Sunday.
And every Saturday, I am committed to movie night with my two nieces. hehe
