A young, male Antarctic fur seal finds respite from the chaos and mayhem of his colony atop a cliff overlooking South Georgia, Antarctica's receding, glacial landscape. Having reached shore after a winter spent at sea, he intends to breed among the thousands of other seals that inhabit the island's subantarctic beaches. 99.9% of his species are dark brown, which makes him an uncommon sight – only one in a thousand share his 'blonde' genetic variation. Fur seals were once in severe decline due to overhunting, but their population has rebounded significantly in recent years.
