Black hole, Black String, Ring

Could a black ring exist? Sorta like Ringworld, though I imagine it would at least need to be spinning in a twisting sort of way. I thought at first of a string shaped black hole, but that would almost certainly collapse into a point like thing. But a spinning ring would maybe not do that. OK, too much (or not enough) Stargate binging.
