Love: Do we or do we not have control over it?

I had an argument with someone about love. Although, the person was of the opinion that love is by choice but I was like "we do not have control over love." Well to cut the long story short, I concluded in myself that love could be a little bit of both. I just feel that we may not have control over loving a particular person but we can also choose to stay with them despite their flaws. I think that loving someone isn't our own doing but staying with them is. Just my thoughts anyway. Would love to hear the opinion of others...
