German Chancellor Olaf Scholz does not see any signs that Putin can abandon his imperialist plans, so he considers it necessary to increase investments in defense. "Every time I talk to Putin, he says very clearly that he wants to conquer something... He just wants to occupy a part of Ukrainian territory by force," said Scholz, who called the Russian president recently. The chancellor noted that the losses of the Russian Federation in the war could be very large. "We don't know exactly how many Russian soldiers died. But it could be 100,000," he suggested. Scholz also recalled that the Russian leadership had already demonstrated the brutality of its military in the past. As an example, he cited Syria and Chechnya, where entire cities were "erased." The head of the German government confirmed the course to increase expenses for the maintenance of the Bundeswehr. He emphasized that NATO countries should be so strong that no one dares to attack them. Unfortunately it is the only possible option - to increase military power. With such bloody neighbors as russians, the only way to stay safe is to be stronger.
