Branko Ćopić (Hasani, Bosnian Krajina, January 1, 1915 - Belgrade, March 26, 1984) was a Serbian and Yugoslav writer. He finished elementary school in his hometown, lower high school in Bihać, and attended teacher's school in Banja Luka, Delnice and Sarajevo, and finished in Karlovac. He graduated from the Faculty of Philosophy in Belgrade in 1940 in the group for pedagogy. [1] He published his first story in 1928, and his first short story in 1936. His works have been translated into English, German, French and Russian, among others. He was a member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts and the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Bosnia and Herzegovina. He committed suicide by jumping from the bridge of Brotherhood and Unity.
