Melon (lat. Cucumis melo) is an annual plant that belongs to the family Cucurbitaceae and should therefore be considered a vegetable. However, many consider melon to be a fruit. It is grown mainly in Asia, the USA, Mexico, but also in many Mediterranean countries. It is also called dune, melon, pecun, pipun and pepun.
