Apple (lat. Malus pumila syn. Malus domestica) is a species of woody plant from the family Rosaceae, as well as the name of its fruit (the scientific name of the fruit is pomum). There are over 7,500 home-grown apple cultivars. The domestic apple is a deciduous tree up to 12 m high, with a dense canopy. The leaves are oppositely arranged, oval with a pronounced tip and serrated edge. The flowers are white (pink at the beginning of flowering), with 5 corolla and 5 calyx petals. The fruit ripens in late summer and autumn.
