Hello, how are you, what's going on at your place. This is my own Sarplaninac dog, her name is Kala, she has been in my possession for about a year and a couple of months. I got her from the same owner. Ever since I got the offer, I thought the female was angry and was going to bite. But that didn't happen, the female is very calm, she wants to cuddle and play. She eats everything and anything, I feed her with granules, bread, barrels, rice, macaroni, and a lot of that, minced meat. There is one picture on the first day when I got it, the fourth picture is tied to the fence. It is safe to say that the Šarplaninac is the king among shepherd dogs, both in our country and in the region. It is about a breed that originated in the former Yugoslavia. It is rightly said that it is the most intelligent dog, very gentle towards its owners. If necessary, his temper is sharp, especially when someone from his environment is threatened. How did the Sharplanin come to be? As the word itself says, this dog got its name from the Šar mountain, which stretches through southern Serbia, more precisely through Kosovo and Metohija, and all the way to northern Macedonia. Experts of the dog breed point out that it is believed that the Sharplanin came to the Balkans during the campaign of Alexander the Great. However, in the twenties of the last century, the first specimen of Šarplaninac was shown in Slovenia, and in 1939, the international cynological federation recognized this breed as a type of Illyrian shepherd. Then, in 1957, the Yugoslav Kennel Club sent a request requesting that the Illyrian Ochar change its name to the Yugoslav Shepherd Dog, i.e. Sharplaninac. It is also interesting to note that at that time this breed spread throughout the Balkans at breakneck speed, and the reason for that is their character and incredible ability to guard herds and households. They are classified as the best guards, who can often kill a wolf. Therefore, it should not be surprising that every mountain household wanted to have this particular dog. Temperament of the Sharplaninac Šarplaninci have a firm and determined character, which makes them highly sought-after dogs, and it is a very balanced and calm dog breed, which also has exceptional intelligence, remembers quickly and learns even more easily. Although they look scary, they are really very sweet and tame towards their owner. They are distrustful of strangers. However, they do not attack until they are given the command to do so. His instincts are highly developed, which is what is required of a guard dog. These dogs are fearless, they easily deal with wolves, and when they protect and guard the herd, they are tireless in their fight. Today, they can often be seen on city streets as pets. Because of their intelligence, they were also used in the army. If something can be called their flaw, it is their stubbornness, and if they are not trained on time, they know how to make their own decisions and not listen to their owner. The appearance of a Sharplaninac Their build is regular, they have broad shoulders and muscular chests. Their fur is thick. Their trunks are longer than they are tall, and their heads are proportional to their body size. Their head is longer than their snout. Their eyes are almond-shaped, dark chestnut and black in color. The tail is long. The preferred height of males according to standards is from 66 cm to 80 cm, while females are from 65 cm to 72 cm. The weight of males is from 40 kg to 60 kg, and females from 55 kg to 70 kg. On average, they live from 11 to 13 years, but even longer.
