Данас је Аранђеловдан – празник који показује какви ће бити зима и пролеће Данас је Сабор Светог Архангела Михаила, у народу познатији као Аранђеловдан. Празник је установљен још у четвртом веку нове ере. Аранђеловдан је посвећен архангелу Михаилу, предводнику војске анђела, бестелесних сила добра које су учествовале у стварању света. Сматра се чуварем православне вере и борцем против јереси. Припремила Нада Руменић Петрић Свети архангел Михаило, симбол је борбе против зла и на иконама и фрескама приказан је као небески ратник у војничкој опреми, са мачем, копљем и злим духом који, окован ланцима, лежи под његовим ногама. Његов култ настао је у 3. веку и развио се најпре у Фригији. Као празник, Аранђеловдан је установљен век касније, у време Силвестера Првог Римског и Патријарха Александра Александријског. Постоји погрешна традиција да славари не спремају жито за Аранђеловдан, заборављајући да се жито приноси не светитељу, већ свим упокојеним прецима који су се заветовали светом архангелу Михајлу. Као крсну славу, Аранђеловдан су славили Цар Душан Силни, Стефан Немања и његови синови. Слава је Саборне цркве у Београду. По бројности свечара празник Светог Михаила је на другом месту слава код Срба, иза Никољдана. И ове године, због пандемије, слава би требало да се обележи у кругу породице, како би се испоштовала традиција, али и сачувало здравље најближих. У народу се верује да време на Аранђеловдан показује како ће бити током целе зиме и пролећа. Верује се да овај зимски светац лута прерушен у просјака и усмерава невернике на прави пут. У неким крајевима Србије сматрају га и заштитником сточара. There is a wrong tradition that the celebrants do not prepare grain for Arandjelovdan, forgetting that the grain is offered not to the saint, but to all the deceased ancestors who made a vow to the holy archangel Michael. As a baptismal feast, Arandjelovdan was celebrated by Tsar Dusan Silni, Stefan Nemanja and his sons. It is the glory of the Cathedral Church in Belgrade. According to the number of candlesticks, the feast of St. Michael is the second most celebrated among Serbs, after St. Nicholas. This year as well, due to the pandemic, the glory should be celebrated in the family circle, in order to respect the tradition, but also to preserve the health of the closest ones. The people believe that the weather on Arandjelovdan shows how it will be during the whole winter and spring. It is believed that this winter saint wanders disguised as a beggar and guides unbelievers on the right path. In some parts of Serbia, he is considered the protector of cattle breeders.
