The European viper (lat. Vipera ammodytes) is a species of snake from the buttercup family. The average length of the hopscotch is 50-70 cm, and the maximum length is about 1 m. Sexual dimorphism is expressed, which is characterized by the size of the individual. The only characteristic of the hopscotch, by which it is easily recognizable, is the "horn" on the front part of the head, built of 9-12 tiles organized in 2 (or 4) rows. The color of the hopscotch varies greatly, from gray, slightly yellow to light brown, depending on the climate in which we find it. The common feature of all individuals is a dark brown or black zigzag stripe that extends the entire length of the back. The underside, otherwise short-tailed, is painted yellow, red or light green in individuals of both sexes.
