I sell t-shirts through print-on-demand marketplaces. I sell customized T-shirts. Customized T-shirts mean I allow customers to have their own slogan or messages on T-shirts. Let's say, I am selling a T-shirt with a god image, I allow customers to have their message on the t-shirt. Since print-on-demand products are made only after the product is ordered, it is easier to sell customized products. I use a simple strategy to sell. I pair t-shirts with matching trousers, coffee mugs, towels, pillows, etc. I also allow customers to choose from different sizes and different colors. If you want to sell online and if you want to outsmart your competitor you need a new niche. In order to become successful online, you need a niche. It is always better to become a big fish in a small pond rather than a tiny fish in a sea and lost in the competition. So, how do you actually choose a niche, that's what you need to figure out.

Choosing a Niche: Evergreen Niche Vs. Trending Niche

There is a clear distinction between what people believe will sell and what products will actually sell.

Generally speaking, you have two options for choosing a niche, one, evergreen niche, and two, trending niche.

Evergreen niche means something that will sell all through the year, trending niche means a niche that is trending currently but may not be trending in the future. Christmas theme items might be trending during the Christmas time, but it will not be trending in June. However, a pet-themed T-shirt can be sold all through the year.

If you want to take my advice, I suggest you choose a trending niche. Ecommerce marketplaces have designed their algorithm in such a way that they push up the trending niches. When you are choosing a trending niche, try niches that have less competition.

One idea is to look into Google trends. You will see what people are searching, and you can use the trending ides on your products.

How to Increase Sales on Your Print-On-Demand Store

One of the major attractions for print-on-demand business is you only have to create product mock-ups, you don’t have to create actual products. This business model is popular because you do not have to fulfil the order yourself. However, the major issue with print-on-demand business is generating sales. There is a lot of competition and selling is very difficult.

You can generate sales through two different methods, one, through advertising, and two, through SEO.

You can run ads on the print-on-demand store where you are selling your item (for example, if you are selling on Etsy, you can run Etsy ads), or on other platforms (on facebook, for example).

You can do two types of SEO, one, SEO to rank on Google, and two, SEO for internal ranking (to rank on the marketplace where you are selling).

It is not easy to rank on search engines, however, with fewer tweaks you can easily rank on internal searches. You should do some research and find out trending keywords, tags and niche.

How to Optimize Your Product Listing on Ecommerce Marketplaces

Whether you are selling on Etsy, Zazzle, Amazon, eBay Redbubble, Printify, Printful, or other similar ecommerce marketplaces, you need to optimize your product listing for internal searches and external searches. When you optimize your product listing, your product will be discovered in the internal search as well as external search. Properly optimized listing will even show on suggested product or similar product throughout the marketplace.

Optimizing your product listing involves three steps:

Niche: You need to use the niche that is trending on Google as well as the marketplace where you are selling.

Title: Use searchable titles. The searchable title means the search term people are using to find products.

Keywords: Use trending keywords on the title, description, and tags.

Tags: Use 5-10 tags, tags should be the high traffic keywords that have low competition.

The most important aspect of optimizing product listing is finding the proper niche and appropriate keywords. You need to use a keyword research tool specially designed for the marketplace you are using.
