Perplexity perplexes me
Perplexity perplexes me, because, according to the dictionary of the Royal Spanish Academy, perplexity comes from the late Latin perplexitax, atis, which means irresolution, confusion or doubt about what should be done about something.
So it is a word that is quite rich, because when we do not know how to make a decision or what to do in a certain situation, it can be said that we are perplexed, we are completely baffled. This can be either a situation, it can be a problem, it can be an exam question, or a question that someone asks us that leaves us without knowing how to answer, or it can be a situation that we don't know how to answer or how to react.
It may be the case, for example, that they are trying to rob us at the point of a gun and we don't know what to do, whether to give him the money, run away or attack the thief.
So we find ourselves in a perplexed situation.
A perplexing situation can also be a person who is disoriented because she does not know what has happened to her, at the time. They may be in a state of shock or perplexity or it may also be someone who is lost and does not know how to get home or to the place where they live, which often happens to seniors when they are old Those who lose their memory or suffer from Alzheimer's find themselves in these perplexing situations.
Perplexity seems very interesting to me because I handle it from the concept that it means or represents a challenge for me So, every time I encounter a situation in which I don't know what to do, my defense mechanism kicks in, telling me that I should calmly analyze the situation and try to find a way or, let's say, turn it around to make this situation become something that I can take advantage of, be it as a person, be it in my life or as learning so that I can use it, and even take this learning from this situation of perplexity to tell it in one of my stories and represent it through a character that You can find yourself in a situation that I have already taken from real life through my own experience, or through someone else's experience.
These situations of perplexity can affect different aspects of life in a quite serious way, for example in studies it can cause the person to become blocked, since when answering a question in an exam they are not able to do so in the required time or in the time that the test or the examiner requires, it can also be a problem to study because by not understanding a term or the meaning of something, the person can get distracted and this can lead them to procrastinate and get lost in a kind of limbo where you will not be able to study or have a correct learning.
Of course it can also affect the work aspect of the person, because the person, being in this state of confusion, cannot manage to do the job or cannot understand.
The perplexity then becomes something very interesting to study and learn from.
Have you found yourself in situations of perplexity?
