Our cancelled, not cancelled yet Baguio getaway pre-covid

Marami nang nagttravel ulit ngayon lalo na ung mahihilig magout of town. Wag pa dn natin kalimutan na may pandemiya pa din at kelangan pa dn maging maingat.

Just to give you a little background, we've been friends since 2007.

After college and after we had our own jobs or career, nagkikita kita p dn kmi lalo na during special occasions. We treat each other as sisters from another mother. Family na namin ang isa't isa lalo na sa kagipitan, sa awayan at tampuhan.

When we started earning money from our jobs, laging napagpplanuhan na magout of town para maiba lang. Yung tipong malayo naman ng ilang oras from our city.

It's been more than a decade and hindi pa dn namin maituloy dahil sa iba't ibang schedule sa work. Ika nga ng karamihan, kapag planado hindi natutuloy, kapag biglaan natutuloy.

Planning

Binigla namin ang pagplano nung 2020. Yes, 2020. Pre-pandemic lockdown. We discussed back in February 2020 to go to Baguio during summer, so by March 2020. Then we, agreed. We checked our calendars and decided on the date, then we immediately looked for a transient or a place to stay, booked it via Airbnb using credit card and then shalaaaaah! Waiting for the date na lang.

Super excited kami lahat, kasi this is our first get away na kumpleto kami. Then we planned our itinerary na for our tour. It was supposedly a DIY Baguio tour.

Thrilling news

Then rumours or news about COVID-19 spread. Maraming sabisabi na maglolock down eklat eklat, chuva chuva... First week pa lang ng March, naguusap kami na antay kami ng news but of course, kinakabahan kami na baka hindi matuloy kasi everything wasn't comfirmed yet.

We booked the transient house by last week ng March 2020. As in nakaabang kami sa news and nagdidiscusyon na kami if itutuloy ba namin o hindi. Kasi the options lang na binigay nung host is to reschdule if tuloy ung lockdown. The problem is, we don't know kelan ulit mangyayari un.

So the lockdown announcement was official and started on March 15, 2020. We still have a few days to travel before the borders closes so un ang pinagdebatihan namin.

Reschedule or refund

By the way, J was the one who booked it via Airbnb and sya ang nakikipagusap sa host na ayaw iparefund. We came up with several options:

• Gora before magclose ang borders but problem is baka di kami makabalik ng metro manila.

• Insist on refund na ayaw naman gawin ng host.

• Reschedule on a later date but not definite kasi we don't know when the pandemic will end and of course kung kelan magkakaroon ng free time ulit lahat.

In the end, syempre yung pinakaaasahan naming getaway is hindi natuloy. Isipin mo it was booked in 2020 and for more than a year, ayaw pa dn kami irefund nung host sa Airbnb. Magdadalawang taong booking na un, nagkaanak nako't lahat lahat di pa dn namin maituloy.

Iba na ang sitwasyon ngayon, yung plano namin nung single pa kami mukang magiging tita feels na sila. Hahahha ako pa lang ang may anak sa aamin.

Nung highschool kami, ung Science club namin may event na ppunta ng Baguio, SciCamp kung tawagin. Members and non-members are welcome to join. But due to financial issues, di ako nakasama, silang 3 kasama. Huhu. So they already have a glimpse of Baguio nung bata pa kami. Ako totally wala. Never akong nagout of town except Bicol kasi family tradition na namin un. Pero di naman ako naiinggit kasi tamad dn akong gumala sa totoo lang HAHAHA.

Oh bago ko makalimutan, here's our supposed itinerary for our Baguio-Cancelled not cancelled yet getaway.

• Taw awan

• Mount costa

• Flower farm La Trinidad

• Northern blossom flower park

• Night Ukay ukay

Konti lang kasi mas gusto namin magchill at maghanap ng spot na maganda tumambay.

Hmmm.... Well, we still have the transient house na pwede namin iresched anytime DAW. Let's see kung kelan namin magamit un.

If ever we decide to continue na ung Baguio tour namin, I hope na everything is already okay. I already have a little B na pwede kong itour and mas mahirap siguro maggala kapag may batang kasama.

We are still looking forward for this getaway soon. Lalo na may planong mag-ibang bansa ang isa sa amin.

Hindi man ako mahilig magtravel, pero mas hilig kong tumambay sa nakakarelax na place kung saan kasama ko family or friends ko. That's what makes any travel fun for me.
